For 80 years, this cornerstone has marked the foundation of our church building- and for 80 years, generations of people have gathered here to worship, pray, learn, serve, celebrate, grieve, and follow Jesus together.

Buildings change. Ministries grow. Generations come and go. But the foundation remains.

“Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” — Ephesians 2:20

First summer at Forest Home’s Wild Rock—and we have a feeling this is the beginning of a very good tradition!

Our New City Kids spent an unforgettable week at Forest Home filled with worship, great teaching, rec, milkshakes, mini golf, zip lining, art, polar bearing, and all the wonderfully camp-y things that make childhood summers so memorable.

But the best part was watching friendships deepen, confidence grow, and our kids experience Jesus together in a place far outside their normal routines. There’s something special about getting away, trying new things, laughing a lot, and discovering that faith and friendship belong together.

A special shoutout to our high school students who joined the leadership team and made the week extra awesome. Thank you for loving our kids so well, bringing the fun, and showing them what it looks like to follow Jesus by the way you lived all week long.

City Catering is connected to our longtime mission partners at City Church Compton, just down the road from El Segundo. Their BBQ restaurant at The LAB is open Wednesday–Saturday, serving up the same incredible food we enjoyed at our anniversary celebration.

Eight decades. One remarkable Sunday!

On Sunday, we gathered to celebrate 80 years of ministry on this campus- and there was not an empty seat in the sanctuary!

For 80 years, generations have walked through these doors to worship, grow, raise families, serve their neighbors, and find community. Sunday gave us a chance to look back with deep gratitude- not simply for a building or a milestone, but for the countless people who have made this place what it is.

A huge thank you to City BBQ & Catering for making the day especially memorable, and to everyone who came, served, gave, and helped us mark the occasion.

Eighty years behind us. And still so much good work ahead!

This Sunday, we’re marking 80 years of our New City Church campus- eight decades of worship, community, friendship, service, and life together in this city we love.

Join us for a special 80th Birthday Worship Celebration at 9:30 AM, followed immediately by an all-church BBQ at 11:00 AM. Come for church, stay for lunch, and help us celebrate the people and stories that have made New City home across generations.

Our middle schoolers have loved winter camp so much that this year, we decided it was time to start a new tradition: summer camp!

And it did not disappoint.

From the Mud Bowl and lake day to team competitions, cabin time, an incredible guest speaker, and awesome times of worship, it was a week packed with fun and growth.

We’re grateful for the memories made, the relationships strengthened, and all the ways God was at work throughout the week.

Safe to say, summer camp is officially a New City Middle School tradition. We already can’t wait for next year!

Join us on Thursday, August 13, for a prayer walk around El Segundo schools as we pray for students, teachers, and families before the new school year begins.

We’ll meet at New City at 9:00 AM and expect to be out for about 60–90 minutes. Wear your walking shoes- we’d love to have you join us!

We are beyond grateful (and amazed) to report that our church family donated an incredible 171 backpacks for local students heading back to school this fall!

For a little perspective: last year, we gave away 70 backpacks. This year, our goal was to beat 80. Thanks to your generosity, you absolutely blew that goal out of the water!

Most of the backpacks have already made their way to five of our mission partners, where they’ll help students start the school year feeling seen, supported, and loved.

If you still have donations to turn in, please bring them by as soon as possible—the collection window has officially closed, and we’ll be delivering the remaining backpacks in the coming days.

Thank you, New City, for living second and showing up for our neighbors in such a tangible way. We can’t wait to see the impact these backpacks will have in the lives of local families.
