Today, we had the privilege of presenting another check to the Children’s Grief Center of El Paso—an organization that continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families in our community.

For nearly three decades, the Center has provided grief support, education, and connection for those navigating loss. Through peer support groups, educational programs, and spaces for healing, they remind every child that they are not alone—and that there is no one “right” way to grieve.

Because of the generosity of our El Paso and Las Cruces community, even more families will now have access to these vital services. Every act of giving came together to create something powerful: support, understanding, and hope for children who need it most.

Earlier today, a check was presented to the Center Against Sexual & Family Violence, made possible by the incredible generosity of our community.

Because of you, hundreds of essential items will now reach individuals and families in need:
• 199 hygiene kits
• 183 towels & blankets
• 30 household supply kits
• 109 pairs of new shoes
• 163 winter clothing items

Many of these donations came from items priced between just $5 and $25, a powerful reminder that even the smallest acts of giving can come together to make a meaningful difference.

El Paso and Las Cruces, thank you for showing such compassion and care. You have created real support and hope for those who need it most.

The 2025 Giving Machine results are in, with strong community support from El Paso and Las Cruces.

During the holiday giving season, more than 172,000 items were donated through the Giving Machines, benefiting seven nonprofit organizations serving both local communities and global efforts.

Donations included meals, hygiene and household supplies, clothing, livestock for sustainability, and essential support items for children and families in crisis. Each contribution represents a tangible resource provided to individuals and families in need.

The Giving Machine initiative allows participants to select and donate specific items, ensuring that 100% of contributions go directly to participating nonprofit organizations.

These efforts highlight the impact of collective community giving and the continued commitment to serving those in need.

What a meaningful morning at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger! ❤️ As part of the America 250 celebration, the JustServe truck arrived in El Paso. We were grateful to gather in the food bank's lunchroom for a warm welcome that included a prayer by Chaplain Moya (Ft. Bliss), remarks from President Cigarroa (Stake Presidency), Kris Yagel (CEO), and Brad Kurkendall (Board of Trustees), and a closing prayer by Pastor Deborah Clugy-Soto (Chair of the Interfaith Alliance of the Southwest). Full time missionaries, who are dedicated volunteers at the food bank uplifted us with "America the Beautiful" and "My Country, 'Tis of Thee." Following the program, we welcomed the JustServe truck at the loading dock as it arrived-an unforgettable moment! We also recognized the truck driver Jonathan Layton and his wife with a gift card for lunch on the road. Two local media outlets joined us as well. Service. Unity. Gratitude. This is America 250!

We are deeply grateful to Pastor Deborah Clugy-Soto, Chair of the Interfaith Alliance of the Southwest, for offering a beautiful opening prayer at the Light The World Giving Machine launch event. We also extend heartfelt thanks to Chaplain Rose from Ft Bliss for offering the closing prayer and a special blessing on the Giving Machines. Ft Bliss is such an important and cherished part of our community! We appreciate both leaders for sharing their time, their faith and their support in helping us kick off this wonderful season of giving.
