The cemetery preservation workshop held at the First Presbyterian Cemetery yesterday was a day of learning and fellowship. Folks from as far away as Fayetteville, Louisiana, and Texas attended the event. About 30 participants enjoyed learning the history of the church cemetery, how to properly clean headstones, and assess and make needed headstone repairs. Thank you to Melanie Allen for the cemetery history lesson, to Elizabeth Eggleston and Holly Hope along with Arkansas Historic Preservation Program & for the event organization, Wild Elm Mercantile for the tasty lunch, and The Maxfields Antiques for the hospitality! Thank you Jonathan Appell of Atlas Preservation/ Endurance Restoration for providing the headstone cleaning/repair knowledge and products.
