DAY 21: Tuesday, October 21

TOPIC: Your Own Personal Need

SCRIPTURE: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." – Psalm 139:23-24

OBSERVATION: When we follow God it is easy to get busy looking out and reaching out for the needs of friends and neighbors. Even in our 40 days we can get so wrapped up looking out that we never look in or ask our Father to tend to us. Today, reflect on your own personal need and speak to your Father about your need for Him.

PRAYER: Father, thank you for the gift of life and the assurance that you want good things for me. I invite you into my heart, my life, my struggles, and fear. I look to you alone for fulfillment. Shine brightly and bring your peace that I may overflow with your joy!

DAY 6: Monday, October 6

TOPIC: Love and Forgiveness

SCRIPTURE: “So this is my command: Love each other deeply, as much as I have loved you. For the greatest love of all is a love that sacrifices all. And this great love is demonstrated when a person sacrifices his life for his friends.” - John 15:12-13 (TPT)

�OBSERVATION: God is love. We, as humans, know and can demonstrate love only because God first loved us. We are never more like Jesus than when we sacrificially love, which includes forgiving those who have hurt us. Forgiveness is not saying the hurt done to you was okay, but it is proclaiming that you are okay. Forgiveness allows you to replace the detrimental force of pain with the life-giving power of love. Forgiveness requires sacrifice, but it is a sacrifice that restores life and demonstrates the love of God.

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for teaching us how to love by loving us so perfectly. Thank you for being the perfect example of sacrificial love and forgiveness. Help us to follow the example of Jesus as we let go of wrongs done to us and connect with the freedom of forgiveness and the power of love. It is in the mighty name of Jesus that we pray. Amen!
