KofC2490 Welcome to the Knights of Columbus Council 2490 and Assembly 1131 page. Officer's Meetings ~2nd Tuesday; Council Meetings~4th Tuesday every month.

Our Principles
All the good works we do are informed by our four core principles:

Charity - Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Members of the Knights of Columbus show love for their neighbors by conducting food drives and donating the food to local soup kitchens and food pantries, by volunteering at Special Olympics, and by supporting, both spiritually and materially

, mothers who choose life for their babies. Knights recognize that our mission, and our faith in God, compels us to action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need, a call we answer every day. Unity – None of us is as good as all of us. Members of the Knights of Columbus all know that – together – we can accomplish far more than any of us could individually. So we stick together…we support one another. That doesn’t mean that we always agree or that there is never a difference of opinion. It does mean that – as a Knight of Columbus – you can count on the support and encouragement of your brother Knights as you work to make life better in your parish and community. Fraternity – The Venerable Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus, in large part, to provide assistance to the widows and children left behind when the family breadwinner died – often prematurely. The Order’s top-rated insurance program continues to do this today, as do individual Knights, who last year gave more than 10 million hours of their time to assist sick and/or disabled members and their families. In the Knights of Columbus, we watch out for and take care of one another. Patriotism – Members of the Knights of Columbus, be they Americans, Canadians, Mexicans, Cubans, Filipinos, Poles, or Dominicans, are patriotic citizens. We are proud of our devotion to God and country, and believe in standing up for both. Whether it’s in public or private, the Knights remind the world that Catholics support their nations and are amongst the greatest citizens.

On Easter Sunday the Church celebrates the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the dead, the greatest feast of the liturgical year.

For this purpose Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was sent into the world.

Through the celebration of this feast Christians also anticipate the resurrection of their own glorified bodies at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

It is customary for Christians to joyfully proclaim to one another, "He is risen!" with the response, "He is risen, indeed!"

Happy Easter

Dear Brother Knights

As we live this Holy Week, we remember and celebrate the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus. From his birth in Bethlehem until his death on Calvary, Jesus lived our human life and through words, actions and example enlightened our human existence with the power of his divinity. St. Athanasius informs us the “He became what we are (human) so we can become what he is (by participation [divine grace]).” The power of Christ’s love for each of us is shown in the events we commemorate in these day - the Eucharist, his suffering, his death on a cross and being raised from death. This is our faith! I have always cherished St. Paul’s words to the Corinthians (1 Cor 15:17) “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile).
May this Easter bring you and your families a renewed joy in Christ’s power over sin and death. May you live life with “Easter Eyes”, always believing the all things are possible with God.

Happy Easter,
Bishop Michael Mulvey
Texas KofC State Chaplain

“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom,” to which Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Luke 23:42-43

“He himself bore our sins in his body upon the cross, so that, free from sin, we might live for righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
— 1 Peter 2:24

Today we stand at the foot of the Cross.

Good Friday reminds us that love is not abstract. Love bleeds. Love suffers. Love gives everything.

And still, Christ chose the Cross for us.

Behold the wood of the Cross, on which is hung our salvation.

April ~ Devotion Of The Month

The Holy Eucharist

The Anima Christi:

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy Wounds hide me. Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me,

And bid me come to Thee, That with Thy saints, I may praise Thee Forever and ever.

Amen.

Happy Knights of Columbus Founder’s Day! Come out and celebrate with us at our Annual KC 2490 Picnic!

On This Day: In 1882 in the basement of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, CT, a parish priest, Blessed Michael McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus. The principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity that were the cornerstone back in 1882, are the same that we aim to uphold today.
