Sometimes we think peace comes from avoiding hard conversations, but Zechariah 8:16 shows us that real peace is built on truth and integrity. God ties honesty, justice, and peace together because one cannot truly exist without the others. Peace that’s built on pretending, hiding, or compromising eventually falls apart. But peace rooted in truth has a foundation strong enough to last. Truth spoken with wisdom can heal relationships, restore trust, and create peace instead of division. Peace is not just the absence of conflict; sometimes it’s the result of people choosing to walk in truth even when it’s uncomfortable. Truth and peace were never meant to compete; in God, they work together.
Take time today to thank the LORD for His truth and peace.

Every parent knows the feeling. You catch a glimpse of your child choosing kindness when no one is watching, or you hear they stood firm in their faith when it cost them something. Something rises up in your chest that is almost too big for words. That's the joy John is describing here. John is writing to Gaius, a church elder and dear friend, praising him for his selfless conduct and Christian hospitality. As the last living apostle, John poured his life into people the way a father pours into his children. The phrase "my children" likely refers to those John has led to faith or discipled, indicating a close, family-like bond. The church is a family, with spiritual parents and children, and John is writing as a father who just got very good news about his kids. What was the news? That they were walking in the truth. In scripture, a person's "walk" denotes their behavior or lifestyle. It's not just what you believe on Sunday but how you live on Monday. To walk in truth means living consistently with the truth you profess. If you are a parent, keep praying for your children. If you lead anyone in the faith, keep investing. And if someone once poured into you, know this: your faithfulness is still bringing them joy.

Take time today to thank the LORD for the family of God.

All throughout the Scriptures, we hear from the holy prophets and apostles that God is not a man, God does not lie, and God does not change (1 Samuel 15:29, Mal 3:6, Titus 1:2). How difficult as a human being is it to wrap your mind around that, when all we know from a flesh and blood perspective is evil? To know that the Lord is invisible, yet omnipresent; transcendent, yet personal, is hard for many to understand. However, when you look at the entire creation, isn’t it so evident that something greater than us has His hand in it from the beginning? I recently saw a clip of a testimony from a renowned eye doctor out of Nashville, TN, named Dr. Ming Wang. He holds two doctoral degrees, one from Harvard, and has performed over 55,000 LASIK eye surgeries. He immigrated to the US from China, having a strictly atheist background. During his studies, he began wondering about the structure of the human eye and how astronomically complex it is, and how millions of cells must align perfectly for a person to have good vision and would otherwise have severe vision issues if just a few cells are out of line. He could not explain in his mind how there is not a creator, so he eventually conceded that there is one, and after that, he came to a conclusion in alignment with the Scriptures after being taught, that all things are created through Jesus and for Jesus, and without Him, there was not anything made that was made (Col. 1:16-20, John 1:3). This puts all of John 9 in a greater perspective now, doesn’t it? The One who created vision and hearing and mobility and speaking and thought and life has the power to have all of these restored and graciously gave those blessed with the Spiritual Gifts of healing, and of miracles, the ability in faith and love to do the same in this present age (Romans 8:11, James 5:14-15, 1 Corinthians 12:9-10).
Take time today to thank the LORD for His goodness and grace, the fact that He is the One Constant Source of Truth and Stability in our lives, our Creator, who lives forever and ever.

Sunday was a beautiful day in the Lord’s house at Cypress Grove Church 🤍

Pastor Mac brought a powerful reminder about the importance of putting on the Belt of Truth, because when we stand firmly in God’s truth, we walk with strength, confidence, and power in our Christian life.

So thankful for worship, the Word, and a church family growing together in faith each week 🤍

Holiness comes by knowing the truth, and the truth comes from knowing His word. Jesus prays that the Father would take the Truth Jesus shared and use the Truth of His word to make His disciples holy, as the Father is holy. We can not be holy apart from the words of Jesus. Jesus is the Truth, and all He taught was Truth. The word should lead and guide our lives. As we change the way we live from our own wants and desires to be more like Christ, we are changed by His Spirit to become holy, as He is holy. This is the process called sanctification; becoming more like Christ, becoming holy. Is your life led by the world’s ideals and logic, or are you led by the Truth that is Christ and His word? There is no truth from the world, only from the Word. Fill your life with the word so you can be made holy.
Take time today to thank Jesus for His word that is truth.

For the third time in four verses, Paul gives us our mission, our marching orders, and the expectation that the LORD has for us as a part of His will. Our mission is to stand firm. We stand in our armor. We stand on His promises. We stand firm, not swaying or cowering. We stand firm in Christ because we have the Truth secured around our core. Jesus is the Truth. He is the absolute Truth, and all truth is measured by His word. We need the belt of Truth on so that we can know when the enemy is lying, even if the enemy is our own mind. We need the Truth as our core because our mobility depends on it. Our mobility in life is based on the Truth of the Word of God. Never take your belt off. Christ, the Truth, is the core strength of our lives and keeps us stable when storms and attacks from the enemy come. Stand in His Truth.

Take time today to thank Jesus for being the Truth in all things.
