City Launches “Operation Cool Florence” to Help Seniors Beat the Summer Heat

The City of Florence is proud to announce Operation Cool Florence, a new initiative spearheaded by Mayor Barnes and Mayor Pro Tem Jebaily to assist vulnerable seniors during the extreme summer heat.

Through partnerships with the Florence Police Department and community stakeholders—including the Housing Authority of Florence, Walmart, and Helping Florence Flourish—the Police Department identified more than 60 seniors in need and secured funding to purchase Arctic fans for them.

These seniors will be part of the program’s first wave of deliveries, scheduled for July 29–31.

Operation Cool Florence is an ongoing effort. The City and its community partners will continue identifying seniors who could benefit from an Arctic fan while seeking additional donations to purchase this essential equipment.
