The Association ensures the maintenance of the cemetery, sells gravesites and oversees the grave openings and closings. The annual meeting of association members & lot owners will be held each year on the first Sunday in May
2. Memorial Day services will be held at 2:00pm on the last Sunday before Memorial Day, weather permitting.
3. The cemetery gates will be locked at dusk, and will remain l
ocked until dawn of the following day, and may remain locked during inclement weather.
4. Any permanent monuments, such as headstones, placed at St. James Cemetery, must be placed directly inline with the other stones and may not interfere with neighboring plots. Exceptions to this rule are flat faced memorial veteran’s plaques which may be placed at the foot of a grave. Please contact the cemetery @ (618)-259-0532 to have the correct location marked before placing stones. Any stones placed that interfere with normal maintenance of the cemetery, or beyond the scope of this rule may be moved.
5. James Cemetery is not responsible for items moved, lost or stolen.
6. James Cemetery is not responsible for vandalism caused by others.
7. Flowers, with the exception of Christmas blankets, must be placed within six (6) inches of the headstone.
8. All Christmas blankets & decorations must be removed by March 1st each year.
9. Live flowers are not the responsibility of the cemetery, and must be maintained by the lot owner(s).
