Thank you all for making Last Rites' 5th year in the Wasteland an amazing one!

Thanks to everyone who visited our Congregation of Blessed Beasts pet memorial chapel and who left an offering there, and to everyone who attended our Midnight Howl ceremony.

The 9th annual Feed the Animals donation drive was a huge success and the folks at the California City Animal Shelter were extremely grateful for your generous donations.

Hosting the Quick Draw competition in collaboration with Outpost 364 was a ton of fun. Thank you to all of the competitors and congratulations to 2 Dogs on his victory!

Our little corner of The Fringe was truly magical, so we also want to shout out the best neighbors ever — Rustorationists/OXSys and The Troop! Also The Boneyard Buzzards, we love you even though you sued us.

We're so excited to return to Wasteland Weekend next week! Here's a rundown of everything we have planned for y'all for 2025:

The Congregation of Blessed Beasts chapel is devoted to the memory of departed pets — "all critters great and small." If your animal companion had entered the gates of Valhalla, we welcome you to our chapel for a moment of peace and reflection. Feel free to bring a photo, note, or memento to add to our walls and shrines, or just enjoy the shade and quiet. We'll be open most of the time throughout the event, especially during the daytime, and all are welcome.

The chapel is also home to the FEED THE ANIMALS Donation Drive, collecting donations for the California City Animal Shelter. We're collecting dog and cat food, pet-safe cleaning products, kennel-safe toys, medical products, and linens. Monetary donations should be made through the California City Animal Outreach Foundation's website, where you can also find their wish list for specific items.

On Friday, we're hosting a Quick Draw Contest! Think you're the fastest gun in the wild wastes? Compete for the title in the streets of Last Rites, Friday at high noon. Bring your own holster if you've got one, or borrow one of ours.

Finally, join the Congregation of Blessed Beasts on Friday at midnight for our annual Midnight Howl — a communal ceremony of feral self-expression! Howl your joy, your rage, and your sorrow alongside your fellow stays. All breeds are welcome.

LAST RITES invites you to the 7th Annual FEED THE ANIMALS Donation Drive (formerly known as the Dinki-Drive) benefitting the California City Animal Shelter!

Each person to donate will receive a bottle cap as thanks for your contribution!

The Chapel at LAST RITES ( #85 on Thunder Road in The Fringe). Put your donations in the giant Dinki-Di can and claim your exclusive bottle cap!

WHEN:

Donations accepted whenever our camp is open (usually daylight hours). Last call at 8am Sunday.

Gather 'round the campfire and sing along to your favorite cowboy ballads and country classics!

Join in or sit back and listen as we perform a wide variety of tunes from your favorite artists like Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, John Denver, Dewey Cox, Old Crow Medicine Show, the Soggy Bottom Boys, and much more. Don't worry about learning any songs in advance — you've probably heard most of them before, and we'll provide songbooks to all who wish to sing along!
