We’re grateful to see the donation of the Nooksack Valley Food Bank property highlighted in the news. Jubilee is about releasing resources for the flourishing of the community—and we’re thankful this gift will help ensure food security and stability for years to come.

Previous landowners subdivided their parcel to sell some of the land while donating the land under the food bank building to the nonprofit.

✨ What if Jubilee wasn't just an ancient idea, but something we could live into today?

At our recent Presbytery Meeting, we officially launched our two-year Jubilee Campaign — an invitation to practice generosity, restoration, and abundant life together.

Inspired by Jesus' proclamation in Luke 4 and God's vision of Jubilee in Scripture, this campaign will:

🌱 Strengthen the future through a permanent endowment for ministry
🤝 Support congregations through Jubilee Grants for local mission
💙 Invest in transformative partners like Campbell Farm and Underground

We are deeply grateful for every congregation, individual, and ministry partner helping bring this vision to life.

Jubilee reminds us that God's dream for the world is one of freedom, renewal, community, and hope. Together, we have an opportunity to participate in that work right here across Northwest Coast Presbytery.

If you'd like to learn more about the campaign, make a gift, or explore applying for a Jubilee Grant, visit our website.

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me... to proclaim good news to the poor... to let the oppressed go free... to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." — Luke 4:18-19

How do we talk about justice in a way that actually reaches people?

The story of Jubilee—release, restoration, and shared abundance—is at the heart of our faith. Yet many church leaders find it difficult to name that story clearly in a time when even the language of justice can feel complicated or misunderstood.

At the Presbytery Meeting on May 21, 2026, this workshop invites leaders to approach things differently. Instead of searching for something new to say, it focuses on learning how to tell the story we already carry—faithfully, clearly, and in a way that opens the door for others.

Facilitated by Jessica Vazquez Torres of Crossroads Antiracism Organizing & Training, participants will explore Marshall Ganz’s Public Narrative framework and practice shaping stories that connect personal call, community life, and God’s vision of justice.

This is a space to reflect, practice, and grow—so that when we speak about liberation and hope, we do so in ways that invite people into the work, not away from it.

Finding the Words: A Public Narrative Workshop

The featured workshop at the Presbytery Meeting on May 21, 2026.

Church leaders already carry a powerful story—Jubilee: liberation, restoration, and shared abundance. This workshop will help you tell that story in a way that invites people in and moves them toward action.

Led by Jessica Vazquez Torres of Crossroads Antiracism Organizing & Training, an experienced trainer and organizer who equips faith communities to engage antiracism as a lived practice, this session introduces practical tools from Marshall Ganz’s Public Narrative framework.

You’ll learn how to connect your own story of call and faith with a larger vision of justice—and how to share it in a way that inspires your community.

"But what can I do?"

If you've been asking that question, our latest Department of Connections story is for you.

You don't have to do full-time social work to be part of the reentry movement. Or go into legal system jobs. Or choose a life of "ministry."

You just have to be willing to use what you already have—your job, your hobby, your land, your connections—and point it toward people coming home.

That's exactly what our founder and Executive Director Chris Hoke brought to Southern Utah University last month, where he was invited to speak on outdoor access, healing, and what it looks like when a whole community gets involved in reentry.

From fly fishing retreats in southern Utah to private therapists offering pro bono care, to churches across the country forming OPOP teams: this is what movement building looks like. The whole community, all the institutions, unlocking the community together.
