an Oklahoma native was chosen and anointed by the Lord to serve in the musical component of ministry. He was reared in a musical environment, for his father, a Memphis, TN native, Superintendent Jesse. Buckley, Jr., whom studied Music at the HBCU, Langston University, created an atmosphere of devotion to God and Musical desire. Pastor Edward Buckley began his musical journey at the age of 4 years
old, beating on pots and pans until his parents bought a drum set for him to play on. He played the drums for the church in which his father pastored, for approximately 7 years. However, Edward’s musical interest began to expand to the keyboards, as only God can orchestrate, the church needed an organist as well, so he gladly accepted the challenge in rendering the best of his musical service to the Lord and the saints of God. Thus, Edward’s musical journey would broaden when he and his family relocated to Memphis, TN. As a Church of God In Christ, (COGIC) organist, he was constantly challenged, void of formal training, to practice extensively, listen and identify appropriate key of song, and play under the anointing of God for considerable timeframes per worship services. This environment produced a musical determination that very few possess. In addition, Edward excelled exponentially in the Memphis Public Schools music system, for he studied stringed instrumentation per the cello. He played, according to his music instructors’ in superior fashion. He was able to successfully undertake several brass instruments simultaneously, while in the marching band. Upon, the completion of Junior High School, Edward’s band director vehemently urged him to audition for a musically gifted program. Edward did so and was accepted to a prestigious High School Fine Arts program. Edward continued on this path and majored in Music at Langston University. While there, he studied and practiced extensively. Although, Edward decided to pursue a different path of study, in reference to his major, he was able to gain substantial musical knowledge with regards to Music theory, Secondary Vocal training and Secondary applied piano studies. With over 30 plus years of musical experience and knowledge, Pastor Buckley has trained, developed, and empowered many musical bodies. He’s trained and influenced many musicians, choirs, and solo artist. Edward has accompanied Gospel Recording artist such as Myron Butler, Richard Smallwood, Elbertina “Twinkie” Clark, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Carolyn Traylor, Derrick Jackson, Wayman Tisdale, etc. In addition, he’s shared the stage with National recognized Artist such as, Smokie Norful, Kevin Davidson, Mary Mary, Myron Williams, etc. Moreover, he’s produced three Gospel music albums. Pastor Buckley has served in the capacities of Lead musician, Music Director for over 20 years. Per request, Pastor Buckley has successful conducted several musical Workshops for various religious reformations. Edward has been personally asked to render his musical ability to other genres. However, he’d made a commitment to the Lord, in that the musical gift given to him, would only be utilized for the service of God, thus he declined that path. Overtime, Edward has received an array of awards, plaques, and recognition for excellence of musical service. To this end, Pastor Buckley’s desires are to give God the glory for what he’s given him and to continue expanding in knowledge for the betterment of providing excellent service unto to God’s people.
