This past weekend myself and about 20 other young adults drove down to Myalup (south of Perth) and had the opportunity to simply slow down and spend some time with God. We stayed at a beautiful lake house, walking distance from a cute cafe called the Crooked Carrot (yay for yummy coffee!). Board games were played, fires were built, and jam sessions occurred. We worshiped loudly, prayed intentionally, and wrestled with what it looks like to make decisions with God. It truly is such a blessing to surround yourself with followers of God, choosing to praise and wrestle together. Young Adults Retreat: Success!

The past couple weeks we have had some exciting events at Lifestreams!

First, we had an all church bonfire night. Aussies not mess around when it comes to bonfires! The fire was huge and made for a fantastic night.

After the bonfire, a few of the young adults, including me, camped at the bonfire so we could set up the bonfire again the next morning. I had my first swag experience, which is basically a little personal sleeping bag with a canvas covering. It’s very handy! In the morning we carried a whole bunch of wood into a pile to be used for the next bonfire.

Yesterday, we held a Holliday day camp for the youth students. It is currently winter break for schools here so we wanted to have a fun event during the break. We played dodgeball, did a scavenger hunt, made socks, and so much more! I had the pleasure of giving the devotion for the day. I spoke a little on Micah 6:8 and what it means to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly. It was a fantastic time.

Prayer Points:
If you would like to participate in my mission here, these are a few things you can join me in praying for this week!
-Young adults retreat is this weekend. Praying for a time of intentional prayer and worship as well as community building.
-As the students are on holidays, prayers for safe travel as well as a refreshing break from school.
-At the day camp we had multiple friends come for the first time which is such a praise! Prayers that they experienced glimpses of God’s love and that they will felt welcomed at Rise Youth!
-As my time is coming to an end here, lots of emotions are coming up! Prayers for me as I make the last couple weeks here.

Time is just flying by! I have officially been in Australia for 4 weeks now. Here are a few of the things I have been up to.

- Lifestreams participates in an event called State Youth Games, which is an entires weekend of sports competitions between churches all across Western Australia. This event is for young adults ages 16-30. Lifestreams came second in sport overall and won both the Spirit of games and sportsmanship awards. It was an incredible weekend!
- I have the opportunity to volunteer with nice a week with an organization called Alta-1, which helps disengaged students find community and support. I mostly just play games with students and help them with task when they need it. It is a privilege to love and sit with youths who have been through incredibly hard times.
- We held a Rise Olympics night for youth one week. We split the students up into 4 teams and had a variety of competitions. It was an amazing night!
- This past Friday, we help an Op Shop (thrift store) Ball. Students were encouraged to dress up and get creative, but on a budget. My small group decided to all wear Barbie themed pits fits. My outfit was made out of Barbie bedsheets! One of the girls even came as a ninja Barbie. We danced the night away, ending with a Praise party. This is a time where we sing and dance, boldly worshiping our loving God.
- I also had the opportunity to go to an Australian Football game, more commonly known as a footy game. It may not have been a successful game, but the food and company were top tier.

I am so blessed it be a part of such a godly, loving community. Thank you for all your prayers and support. We have multiple events coming up, so look out for more posts soon!

Side note, I am not able to post picture with any students of my account is public. Having some trouble getting my account switched to private, but hopefully I’ll have more pictures from the past few weeks soon.

Hello friends! Tomorrow morning, Sunday 05/26 here in Australia, is my second Sunday at Lifestreams (my first one not inflicted with jet lag). I will be generally introduced as well as asked some questions during the service. If you would like to listen, there is a livestream of the service. It will begin at 8:30pm 05/25 CST. I will add the link to the website here. If you cannot watch the livestream, I will post a link to the recording later on. So excited to be back in Australia with Lifestreams!

Hello! My name is Lizzy Mearse and I am a sophomore Nursing major at Lipscomb University. Last summer I had the opportunity to travel with Lipscomb University Missions to Perth, Australia. While there, I partnered with Lifestreams Church, working with the Youth Group as well as the Youth Adults. This summer I have been invited back to Lifestreams as their Youth and Young Adult Intern. I am so grateful and excited for this opportunity. I leave May 13th for this next adventure and will be work in Perth for just over two months.

Would you consider supporting me in this work?

First, by committing me to your prayers over this period of time. Pray that I will be open to the ways God uses - the ones I anticipate and those that surprise me. I want to be responsive to every opportunity he lays before me.

Of course, money is also part of the process.

Lifestreams Church is providing living accommodations while I am in Perth. They are also covering half the of my airfare. The rest of my expenses and any income for that time are up to me to raise. I am hoping to raise $4000 to $5000 to cover my day-to-day needs and the remaining travel costs.

Could you partner with me in this? Any amount is greatly appreciate. I can accept all variety of digital donations as well as checks. I regret that I am unable to offer the tax incentive of this being a charitable donation. Lifestreams is not able to provide it as they are not based in the U.S.

Please stay tuned to this page. I’ll be posting updates so you can follow along my Australian journey!

Lizzy
