Today we were reminded of Jesus’ words: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
The kingdom of God does not begin with self-sufficiency, but with dependence on grace. We come to Christ with empty hands, and He fills us with mercy. Then He sends us back into the world with open hands, ready to extend that same mercy to others.

Today, our congregation picked up packed Blessing Bags to share with people in need throughout the week. These bags may be simple, but they are a tangible reminder that the people our world often overlooks are deeply loved by God.
As you keep a Blessing Bag in your car or carry one with you this week, pray for eyes to see the people God places in your path. May every bag handed out be a small act of kindness, a sign of compassion, and a reminder that there is a King who sees, cares, and welcomes the poor, the broken, and the needy.

Grace received. Grace extended.
That is how the kingdom works.

Beginning June 7, Pastor Bobby Griffith will lead us through “Blessed,” a new sermon series on the Beatitudes. Together, we’ll explore Jesus’s surprising vision of blessing and what it means to live with humility, mercy, peace, faithfulness, and hope in the kingdom of God.

We are grateful to Rev. Michael McDaniel for worshiping with us and preaching such a powerful message: “Lord, Help Me Get One More.” His words challenged us to follow the Spirit’s leading, go beyond our places of comfort, and share the love of Christ with the people God places in our path.

That message came to life in a beautiful way as our deacons, kids’ ministry, and volunteers packed 500 Blessing Bags for people in our community who have needs. Thank you to everyone who donated items, packed bags, prayed, and helped make this ministry possible.

Next week, these Blessing Bags will be available for our congregation to take and share with those who could use encouragement and practical support. May we continue practicing discipleship through Giving Generously and Serving Community.

What a beautiful Pentecost celebration!

Our service was full of joyful worship, heartfelt celebration, and a powerful reminder that the Holy Spirit is still moving—bringing people together, breaking down barriers, and filling the church with hope.
After worship, we continued the celebration around the table with lunch and fellowship, grateful for the gift of community and the joy of belonging to one another in Christ.

A huge thank-you to every volunteer who helped make this day happen. From worship and hospitality to setup, serving, cleanup, and everything in between, your time, energy, and love helped create a meaningful and memorable day for our church family.

The Spirit is still at work. And we are grateful.

Today we celebrated what Pastor Eric called “Sending Sunday,” recognizing 24 people stepping into new leadership and ministry roles. We ordained and installed new elders and deacons, commissioned Certified Lay Pastors, and recognized this year’s Colson Fellows.

It was a beautiful picture of the Holy Spirit at work in the life of our church—calling, equipping, sending, and persevering with us as God continues His good work.

We also celebrated Pastor Eric’s last Sunday with us before he begins a three-month sabbatical. We are grateful for his leadership, his faithful preaching, and the way he has helped shepherd our church. We’ll be praying for Eric and his family during this time of rest and renewal, and we look forward to welcoming them back.

Come Holy Spirit.

Our Mission Possible Serve Team has been putting love into action all across our community.

Over the past several months, this team has served alongside RestoreOKC, City Rescue Mission, and Anna’s House Foundation—showing up with willing hands, generous hearts, and a commitment to reflect Christ’s love through practical service.

Their next opportunity is coming up on Monday, June 22, as we serve as shopping assistants at Project 66 Food & Resource Center in Edmond. Project 66 is a faith-based nonprofit providing food and resources to people facing food insecurity in Edmond, Arcadia, Guthrie, Jones, and Luther.

Project 66 Serve Opportunity

Happy Mother’s Day from First Pres. 💐

Today we give thanks for the mothers, grandmothers, spiritual mothers, mentors, teachers, aunties, friends, and all the women who nurture, guide, comfort, pray, and love with patience and strength.

We also hold close those for whom this day is tender — those grieving, longing, waiting, remembering, or carrying complicated stories. May the peace of Christ meet each of us right where we are.

As we heard in worship today:
Peace to you. Peace in you. Peace through you.
May that peace fill our homes, our families, our church, and every place where love is being poured out.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Today was full of joy as we welcomed new members into our church family, celebrated the gift of baptism, and honored our graduating seniors as they prepare for the next chapter God has ahead.

Days like this remind us that the Holy Spirit is at work — pouring into lives, shaping our church family, and sending us out with faith, courage, and joy.

We are grateful. We are celebrating. And we are asking God to keep filling us with His Spirit!
