Welcome to Good Samaritan United Methodist Church. Located in the heart of Edina, MN, we chose our name because we believe we are all called to be Good Samaritans, doing good for neighbors near and far. We are a joyful, loving and reconciling community, so all are welcome! Good Samaritan is a progressive, reconciling United Methodist Church that welcomes all, worships passionately, challenges inju

stice, builds partnerships in mission locally and globally and seeks to transform the world through God’s love. We are members of the Reconciling Ministries of the United Methodist Church, which means we declare ourselves to be open and affirming. We celebrate diversity and welcome all. Drawing upon long established rituals and spiritualities, Good Samaritan is innovative and pioneering in our efforts to be a place of positive change within Christianity, within our denomination, within ourselves, and within the world around us.

Pentecost is the annual celebration of the arrival of the Holy Spirit in a new way amongst God’s people. The Spirit arrives in wind and flame to all the known people of the Mediterranean basin at the time. All could understand one another, despite the different languages spoken.

A parishioner recently asked me, “What if the people couldn’t understand each other? I thought it was a very apt question for our time in history. Join us in person or online this Memorial Day weekend as we reflect on the Spirit’s movement and our calling to respond today.
