Written in the 18th century, “How Firm a Foundation” (United Methodist Hymnal no. 529) continues to speak to us today—especially in seasons of challenge and change.

Though the songs origins are little mysterious in that authorship was originally unattributed, the hymn's intent is definitely clear: God sustains us even in the midst of tribulations and doubts.
