Announcement from Fr. Dan of the newest hire at Newman!

ā€œIt is with joy I announce the hire of Sean Coyle as the Director of Campus Mission. Sean comes with great faith and experience in campus ministry. The interview team enjoyed our time with him and were excited when he accepted the offer of the position. He'll start June 1 in Eau Claire and I look forward to working with him for that month. There will be a great team for campus ministry here and I'll be happy to see from afar the great work they are doing! Below is some information that Sean shared so we can get to know him a bit before he arrives.ā€ Fr. Dan

From Sean:
ā€œHello! My name is Sean Coyle, and I’m so excited to be joining the team at Newman Parish! I’m originally from Cherry Valley in Illinois, the oldest of five kids, and a cradle Catholic who really fell in love with the Lord and my faith in high school. In college, I studied Theology and Philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville, and went on to pursue a Master’s in Theology from the same school. The Lord changed my life so deeply through the loving witness and formation of others during my time in college, and I wanted to be part of that for others, so I became a campus missionary at Northern Illinois University in 2019, and went on to be a campus minister and missionary at UW-Platteville in 2020, where I’ve served for the last six years. I’ve been blessed to walk with many young men in discipleship and Bible Studies, teach the OCIA program, and run the music ministry for the university parish there during my time. I’m so grateful the Lord has called me to continue to work in college ministry, and I hope to share His love and peace with you all in the time I’m given with you! Looking forward to meeting you all!ā€

As many of you know, Bishop Gerard Battersby recently announced priest assignment changes in the Diocese of La Crosse. While this announcement means that there will be sad goodbyes in the future, Fr. Dan wanted to share his hope & trust that the Lord will bring abundant graces through it all. Here is a message from him along with the official announcements from the diocese regarding Newman Parish:

ā€œI shared the following announcements during the weekend Masses. I'll share further reflections on my time here as I get closer to moving, but I've lived in Eau Claire 11 years and it feels like home now. I'm looking forward to returning to Stevens Point and working with my brother Fr. Tim and Fr. Daniel Williams and being closer to my Dad, but I'll miss all of you and this community. It does give me a lot of peace and confidence knowing that Fr. Klos and Deacon Lang (who will become Fr. Lang on June 27th) will be here and they will be a blessing to the parish and campus ministry!ā€ Peace, Fr. Dan
