Immaculate Conception Parish

Immaculate Conception Parish Founded on September 15, 1945, Immaculate Conception Parish is located at 1712 Highland Avenue in Ea Father Daniel J. The convent was also erected at this time.

In September 1945, Bishop Alexander McGavick established Immaculate Conception Parish to serve the east side of Eau Claire. O’Reilly was named the first pastor of the new parish. For two years, Sunday Mass was celebrated in the auditorium of the Elks Club in downtown Eau Claire. In 1947, the parish obtained it’s first church--Military Chapel from Truax Air Force Base in Madison. This chapel served

as the worship space for Immaculate Conception Parish until the present church was completed in 1959. Final plans for the 10-room school and rectory were completed in 1949. The school opened in 1950, staffed by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration from LaCrosse who served Immaculate Conception School as teachers and administrators until 2005. More than twenty priests served as associate pastors at Immaculate Conception. In 1983, Fr. Eugene Klink was appointed the second pastor of the parish. Fr. Don Meuret came to Immaculate Conception in July 2013 and is the third pastor of the parish. Immaculate Conception Parish now numbers 1,300 households and is committed to living out its mission statement through worship, stewardship, education and formation, service and hospitality.

Today is All Saints' Day, a solemnity which the Church celebrates the glory and honor of all the saints. For the faithful, this day teaches us to look to those who already possess the inheritance of eternal glory and strive to follow in their examples, devoting ourselves to the service of God and of our neighbor.

Rest in peace, Father Don...and thank you for all you did for our parish and the Catholic faith.

Turning water into oil for church lamps on Holy Saturday is the miracle for which Narcissus is most known for. In the late second century, at age 80, he became bishop of Jerusalem. After being falsely accused of crimes by his enemies, he retired and went into isolation. When he finally emerged, he was persuaded to resume his duties in Jerusalem. Some writings suggest that he lived to age 116!

St. Narcissus, pray for us!
