SERMON CONNECTION | Mark Series (Pastor Kim Buckman)
Have you ever felt like Jesus was walking right past your storm?
In Mark 6, the disciples are fighting the wind and waves when Jesus comes walking on the water.
Then comes a strange verse:
"He intended to pass by them."
Why would Jesus pass by people who desperately needed help?
Pastor Kim connected this moment to Moses' prayer in Exodus:
"Show me Your glory."
When God answered Moses, He didn't simply display power.
He passed by him.
And as He passed by, God revealed His character:
Compassionate.
Merciful.
Slow to anger.
Abounding in love and faithfulness.
Suddenly Mark 6 looks different.
Jesus wasn't walking past the disciples because He didn't care.
He was revealing who He was.
The storm wasn't evidence of God's absence.
It became the setting where His glory could be seen.
One of the strongest reminders from the message was this:
If you feel like Jesus is passing by, He may not be abandoning you. He may be inviting you to know Him more deeply.
Moses was invited up the mountain.
Peter was invited out of the boat.
And today Jesus still invites us closer.
Not just to know what He can do.
But to know who He is.
Three Takeaways
• God's "passing by" is often a revelation of His glory, not His absence
• The first thing God reveals about Himself is His mercy, love, and faithfulness
• Storms can become places where we discover God more deeply
This week, instead of only praying:
"God, get me out of this storm,"
try praying:
"God, show me Your glory."
