This Sunday, we peek in on an important tableside conversation between Jesus and his disciples that took place just before his arrest. It ends with a memorable declaration from Peter that he will follow Jesus to prison or even to death, only to deny that he even knows him just a few hours later - a haunting fulfillment of Jesus' last words to Peter during the Last Supper.

Many of us filled our gas tanks up yesterday before the state tax break expired at 11:59 last night. That got us to wondering about the cost of living in areas of the world where LOPC partners with organizations and individuals to share the Gospel. We did a little digging and found out just how far 33 cents goes around the globe.

Even though it's overcast today, the sunshade on the playground went up because summer is here, and so are the families with little ones! We never get tired of seeing parents, grandparents, and children enjoying time together on our campus, and the two hard-working deacons in this photo got a first-hand view of all the fun to be had during these warm-weather months ahead.

At the beginning of yesterday's worship service, we introduced Ron Nordan as our Interim Director of Worship & Shepherding. Ron and his wife, Cindy, have been active with the music ministry of LOPC since joining earlier this year, and Ron is now stepping into a more official role to help collaborate and plan worship with our Pianist and Choir Director, Amy Reber. Ron brings 21 years of music and pastoral experience, along with 20 years of a military career serving as Chaplain to the Navy and Marines, including three years at Camp David. He holds a B.A. in Music Education and an M.A. in Church Music. Ron plays almost all brass instruments - tuba, trombone, trumpet, French horn (and the kazoo on special request). When he's not organizing music, Ron enjoys watching sports and trying to wrangle grandchildren, including twin grandsons.

Tomorrow's forecast isn't looking very welcoming to an outdoor shed build, so the scheduled event between Sheds of HOPE and Greene County Habitat for Humanity is postponed until Thursday, June 11 (8am-3pm). So, sleep in and enjoy a rainy day at home, everyone!

By the time staff got here at 8:30 am this morning, a crew from Greene County Habitat for Humanity was already hard at work alongside some of our Sheds of HOPE leaders. Three sheds are planned for on-site installation at three Habitat homes in Union Point, but the weather may not cooperate. Will this Saturday's special collaboration be rained out? We're not sure, yet, but we'll post updates as they come our way.

Tomorrow, we say farewell to our Worship Director, Hunter Tomlin, and his family. In 2024, we first welcomed Hunter and Kara as a couple who were just a few years into marriage. Tomorrow, they depart as a family of three, with a blue-eyed darling who melts hearts with one flash of his little pearly whites. During those bookends of time, the Tomlins have faithfully served LOPC and the lake community. They've been found not just within church walls, but at open mic night over at Bruzze, making connections at festivals and concerts, providing guitar lessons through The Arts Barn , and working with ATLAS Ministry, Inc. to introduce the ukelele to groups of curious students. As a staff member of LOPC, Hunter has brought humility, good humor, patience, and an undeniable Christ-infused kindness to all he does - and he sings and plays guitar and piano, too! Thank you, Hunter and Kara, for your investment in us. You will be sorely missed, and we know that you will be as much of a gift in SC as you were here in GA.
