We can have Joy in the Midst of Life

10/24/26

Psalm 95:2

Have you ever found it difficult to be thankful when life seems to be one struggle after another?

“Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”

Sometimes it is difficult to be thankful and joyful. Life seems difficult by default. From the moment we are born, it feels like we are in a battle for survival, constantly watching our backs. So why does this verse tell us to give thanks and be joyful?

We are called to be joyful and grateful, not because life is easy, but because Christ is with us through the difficulties. He is the One who watches over us, cares for us, and promises never to leave us. Because of Him, we have every reason to come into His presence with thanksgiving, joy, and songs of praise!

Reflection: Has it been difficult to be joyful and thankful lately? What are you struggling to entrust to God?

Prayer: Lord, help us to trust You with our lives so that even in difficult times, we may find joy in You. Amen.

We are equipped for Good Works

10/23/26

Have you ever wondered what equips us to do the good works God has called us to do?

“that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:17

The way a person becomes equipped for every good work is through God’s Word living and working in them. This is not something we can accomplish on our own. It is Christ working in us through His Word.

We are all called to do good works, but it takes the power of the Holy Spirit to lead us. By nature, we are selfish and sinful, but through His Word, God changes us, shaping us into the people He has called us to be.

Reflection: Have you been able to see God’s Word at work in your life?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for working in us through Your Word. Help us to continually seek Your Word and be equipped for every good work.

Amen

Strengthened by Grace

10/22/26

Have you ever thought about how God’s grace actually strengthens us?

“You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 2:1

I love this verse because, for some reason, I had never equated strength with grace. But when you think about it, God’s grace frees us from the burden of sin and guilt. Through Christ, we are forgiven, and that freedom strengthens us to be who God has called us to be.

That is why it is so important that we model Christ by extending grace to those around us. When we forgive others and show them the love of Christ, we can encourage and strengthen them as well. After all, we have received that same grace ourselves.

Reflection: When was the last time you truly extended grace to someone who needed it?

Prayer: Lord, help us to willingly extend and receive Your grace. Amen.

God Is Faithful

10/21/26

Have you ever been so afraid of something that you forgot God was right there with you?

“But I will deliver you on that day, declares the Lord, and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid.”
Jeremiah 39:17

God is faithful, and He reminds us that He is always there. Here, God is speaking to Ebed-melech, a man who trusted Him during a very difficult time. God assures him that He will protect and deliver him from those he fears.

What a comforting reminder for us! I don’t know what you may be going through right now, but I encourage you to trust in God. Whether it is a person, a situation, or something else causing you fear, remember that God loves you and has not abandoned you. His deliverance may not always look the way we expect, but He remains faithful.

Reflection: What fear do you need to place into God’s hands today?

Prayer: Lord, help us to trust in You, knowing that You are faithful and will never abandon us. Amen.

Can money become your master without you even realizing it?

10/20/26

1 Timothy 6:10

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”

I find it interesting that it is not money itself that is the root of all kinds of evil, but the love of money. When wanting money becomes an unhealthy preoccupation, that is when it becomes toxic.

Money is a tool, and when used as such, it can accomplish a lot of good. But the moment money becomes an idol, an obsession, it stops being a tool and becomes a master, demanding our complete allegiance. And that is when it can lead us away from God.

Reflection: Has your desire for money ever bordered on the unhealthy?

Prayer: Lord, help us to love You and not money. Remind us that You are the One who provides for us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have you ever been afraid to speak the truth because of how someone might react?

10/19/26

Jeremiah 36:26

“And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son and Seraiah the son of Azriel and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the secretary and Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them.”

Jeremiah spoke hard truths that the king didn’t want to hear. But Jeremiah followed God’s command anyway. When the angry king ordered Jeremiah and his scribe arrested, God intervened. The Lord hid them.

Like Jeremiah, following God’s commands can get us into trouble. People may become upset with us, and stepping out in faith can feel risky. But we are reminded that God is faithful. This doesn’t mean we will never face hardship or persecution, but it does mean that God will never abandon us. Even when the consequences are difficult, we can trust Him.

Reflection: Where is God calling you to speak up or step out in faith right now? Are you willing to trust Him with the consequences?

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for shielding Jeremiah and for remaining faithful to us. Help us to be bold for Your name, trusting You even when following Your commands is difficult. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Have you ever believed something only to discover later that it had no basis in truth?

10/18/26

1 Timothy 4:7

“Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness;”

It is so easy to get caught up in irreverent things or find ourselves believing and acting on silly myths. In the original language, Paul uses an expression often translated as “old wives’ tales,” referring to foolish stories and beliefs that distract us from the truth.

We can all fall into that trap, which is why Paul encourages us to train ourselves in godliness. Through God’s Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we learn to discern what is true and what is not. We are urged to focus on what really matters. This helps us when we are confronted with things that are contrary to God’s Word and design.

Reflection: Have you ever been tempted to believe or participate in things that distract you from godliness?

Prayer: Lord, help us to train ourselves for godliness and give us discernment to recognize what is true.

Amen.

What would happen if you showed kindness to someone who doesn’t like you?

10/17/26

Proverbs 25:21
“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.”

This is one of those verses that doesn’t seem to make sense. Why on earth would someone help their enemy? Why would you feed someone who is actively trying to harm you? It sounds weak, it sounds foolish, and it even sounds dangerous. So why would Solomon say that?

Because when you do this, it is an unexpected act that catches your enemy off guard. Instead of fighting you, they may be confused by your kindness and begin to reconsider how they treat you.

And let’s be honest, Jesus did this for us. Even while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He showed us love when we least deserved it.

Reflection: Is there someone in your life right now that you should feed and give water to drink?

Prayer: Lord, help us to be like You when we deal with those who hate us. Amen.

If God desires all people to be saved, how are we sharing that wonderful truth with those around us?

10/16/26

1 Timothy 2:4
“who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

He, God Himself, desires for all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. This is pretty amazing! The King of the universe, the great I AM, wants us to be saved. He wants us in heaven with Him. What a comfort that is!

Sometimes we portray God as the big angry man in the sky and forget just how much He loves us. We don't always put two and two together. Jesus is His Son, sent to die in our place so that through Him we might have eternal life. What greater demonstration of love could there be? We need to remind ourselves and the world that God loves us and desires for all to be saved!

Reflection: Knowing that God desires our salvation fills my heart with gratitude and awe. What about yours?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for loving us and desiring that we come to know You and Your truth.

Amen.
