Cornerstone Kids

Come join with us as we go and make disciples of the children God has blessed us with! At Cornerstone, kids are a top priority!

When we read Christ’s commission to “go and make disciples”, we think KIDS! With the goal in mind of seeing our children follow Christ, we have a threefold approach to Children’s Ministries. Our approach is relationship based, discovery oriented, and obedience focused. Just as Christ pursued relationship with His disciples, we are eager to form relationships with children, enabling us to both demo

nstrate the love of God and share our experience of faith with them. By engaging the kids with an interactive time in God’s Word, we allow God to speak as we explore the Scripture together. Being fruitful depends upon taking action! We encourage the children to determine how their lives need to be changed to align with God’s Word. Then we cheer them on as they take action, obeying God and sharing His truth with others! Cornerstone has weekly and special programs for children ages birth through sixth grade including Nursery, Sunday School, Children's Church, Vacation Bible School, and AWANA (launching Fall '13). Read 1 Timothy 2:1-3. Then make a list of the leaders which may include the president, the national and local government, the judges, the policemen, the business leaders and so on.

If it helps, find their names and photos online.

Ask each family member to pick one person on your list and pray that God will guide their heart and cause them to make decisions that will promote order, goodness, and godliness.

DAILY CHALLENGE
Have each family member bring one object he or she loves to the table after an evening meal.

Take turns showing what has been brought to the table and sharing why each object is special.

Thank God for each person, for each special object, and for the peace that comes from being content with what God gives us.

DAILY CHALLENGE
Discuss: How can our family be a light to the world? (CLUE: see Matthew 5:14-16)
Gather your family together in a dark room, and have a flashlight handy. Turn on the flashlight, and pass it around. The person
holding the flashlight will share a good deed that he or she can do tomorrow.

DAILY CHALLENGE
Borrow a child’s soft toy and hide it. Guide them with “cold,” “warm,” and “hot” until he or she finds it.

Play several rounds. Use this game to explain that many people are separated from God, and Jesus is searching for them.

Make a list of friends and relatives who haven’t accepted Jesus yet. Start praying for their eyes to be open to the truth of the Gospel and their desperate need for a Savior.

DAILY CHALLENGE
Designate a special chair or spot in the room. Have one child sit in that special spot, while the rest of the family takes turns speaking words of love, blessing, and affirmation to him or her. You could start with, “When I look at you, I see…”

DAILY CHALLENGE
Spend a few minutes playing the I SPY game. Have each family member take a turn looking through a pretend telescope and spying objects in the room (I spy something round or I spy something wooden.)

Use this game of observation as a springboard into discussion about getting to know God better and being more aware of His presence.

As a family, think of several practical ways you could “spy” (look for) God’s presence and activity all around you.

DAILY CHALLENGE
Take your family on a quick trip to a grocery store. Have everyone pick one fruit. Be sure to choose at least one exotic fruit that no one in your family has tried before.

As you sit around the table and enjoy your fruit feast, talk about the Fruit of the Spirit, and what it takes to produce it in our lives.

DAILY CHALLENGE
Ask your children if they know what smoke alarms are and why you have them in your home.

Go through your house, let the kids find all the smoke alarms and test them (by pressing the TEST button.)

Ask children what they should do if they hear a smoke alarm sound.

Use this opportunity to talk about fire safety but also about a “sin detector” – that uneasy feeling on the inside that warns us that something is wrong. Explain that our conscience serves as “God’s alarm” that protects us from sin.

Use this game to introduce your children to the practice of Sabbath Rest. Sabbath is the “pause” button God gave us. It’s when we choose to “freeze” to take a break from all the hustle and bustle, reflect on our lives, reconnect with our friends and family, and refocus our faith.
