Join Joseph on his journey from prison to palace with Egypt VBS!

Welcome to your 2026 Holy Land Adventure VBS—where the Bible comes to life right before your children's eyes! At Egypt, everyone gets to explore first-hand the culture of Joseph's world. Alongside Joseph, they'll experience the heartbreaking trials, joyous victories, and tear-filled celebrations of this unique Bible hero.

God's Word comes alive as children enjoy traditional Bible-times customs, occupations, dinner, and even games!

Kids will experience the life of Joseph like never before! Participating in activities that give insight into how Joseph relied on the Lord and witnessing how God provided for him in every situation, kids will leave VBS with a deeper understanding of this amazing story.

What a wonderful spring choral concert we had last Sunday evening. The show featured the choirs of Christ Church Easton, Easton Church of the Brethren, Presbyterian Church of Easton, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, and Trinity Cathedral, as well as the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Brass playing anthems based on well-known hymns, traditional folks songs, and American Gospel music.

Thank you to the choir directors, singers, musicians, and those who came out to the show. And our choir director Carolyn Cutler for conceiving and coordinating this collaboration.

This weekend, we are filled with gratitude and joy as we welcome Assisting Bishop Bud Shand for his visitation and celebrate the Confirmation of five of our students into the Faith. The Confirmation service will be this Sunday, May 17 at 10:00am, a combined service with both contemporary and traditional music and Communion.

Confirmation is a meaningful step in the life of faith — a moment to publicly reaffirm baptismal vows and continue growing in Christ and in community. We are incredibly proud of these students for the dedication, reflection, and prayer they have brought to this journey. They have completed 20 weeks of study which has included a look at church history, the life of Jesus, prayer & worship, scripture, tradition, service & action. They will also be sharing about a new ministry they are introducing at Christ Church!

Please keep our confirmands in your prayers as they prepare for this special day. We look forward to celebrating together this weekend!

“Strengthen, O Lord, your servant with your Holy Spirit; empower them for your service; and sustain them all the days of their life.”

Community voices and brass will come together for an evening of choral excellence at Christ Church Easton on Sunday, May 17 at 7:00pm.

Music lovers are invited to experience an inspiring evening of vocal harmony at the upcoming Spring Choral Festival presented by the combined choirs of Christ Church Easton, Easton Church of the Brethren, Presbyterian Church of Easton, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, and Trinity Cathedral.

The concert will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 17 at Christ Church Easton, 111 S. Harrison Street, Easton.

The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Brass will also be featured as they accompany the choir’s performance of anthems based on well-known hymns, traditional folk songs and American Gospel music.

“This performance is a celebration of connection—through music, through community, and through shared experience,” said Carolyn Cutler, Director of Traditional Music at Christ Church.

The concert is free and tickets are not required, but a free will offering will be taken to help defray expenses.

When you have Youth Group on Earth Day, you celebrate and care for God’s Creation.

From Rev. Kelsey:

“We felt pretty good about our contribution to ‘tilling and keeping’ the land (Gen 2:15) on Earth Day. The kids had great conversations about “stewardship toward Creation,” which were actual words a student used!

“Our group always gets small toward the end of the school year, but the small group conversation are so powerful.

“And there is something wonderful about planting and repurposing Easter Lillies.”

Here is a Collect for Joy in God's Creation:

O Gracious God, who hast filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works; that, rejoicing in thy whole creation, we may learn to serve thee with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

At the Festival of Faith and Writing, I picked up a book. Okay, I picked up several books, but I want to talk about one in particular: a collection of Stanley Hauerwas’s writings called, “Jesus Changes Everything.”

Reading the introduction, by Rev. Tish Harrison Warren (we have studied a couple of her books in small groups), she writes:

“Nothing else Hauerwas says will make sense unless we believe that the church really matters. “The church does not have a social ethic,” Hauerwas argues; “the church IS a social ethic.” Our ability to welcome the vulnerable, the disabled, and children; to speak truth; to practice generosity; to honor the limits and holiness of human bodies; to live “out of step” with the world; and to love our enemies is the embodiment of an ethic birthed out of resurrection. This kind of discipleship isn’t a strategy for winning an election, having a picture-perfect family, or getting a raise. It is, however, as Hauerwas says, living “with the grain of the universe,” and is therefore the strange way of abundant life.”

What a challenge and an inspiration. Something to both reflect on and try to live into the day. Looking forward to being further challenged by “Jesus Changes Everything.”

Over the next few days, Rev. Michael Valliant will be participating in the Calvin Center for Faith and Writing’s Festival of Faith and Writing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After days full of workshops and presentations, the keynote speakers for each night are Robin Wall Kimmerer (“Braiding Sweetgrass”, “Serviceberry”), Ross Gay (“The Book of Delights”, “Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude”) and Barbara Brown Taylor (“Leaving Church”, “An Altar in the World”).

The Festival of Faith & Writing is a unique celebration. For three days every other April, writers and presenters gather on the campus of Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to explore the power of belief and the written word.

Rooted in Reformed theology’s deep appreciation for the goodness of creation, they create space for meaningful conversations and shared discoveries.

Through lectures, readings, and engaging conversations, the festival brings together a vibrant community of readers and writers for a genuinely inspiring experience.

Stay tuned for updates!

"Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen."

(Collect for Ash Wednesday)

Join us for our Ash Wednesday services on Wednesday, February 18 at 12:05pm (to accommodate those coming on their lunch breaks) and 7:00pm as we begin the season of Lent. Services will include the imposition of ashes and Communion.

We will be joined at the 7:00pm service at Christ Church by the clergy of Trinity Cathedral, who are inviting their congregation to join us for this solemn evening service.

Ash Wednesday is the first of the forty days of Lent, named for the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshipers at Ash Wednesday services. The ashes are a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality, and may be imposed with the sign of the cross. Ash Wednesday is observed as a fast in the church year of the Episcopal Church. The Ash Wednesday service is one of the Proper Liturgies for Special Days in the Book of Common Prayer (p. 264).
