Fear is real. It is human. We do not stop fearing, but in Christ our fears are reordered.

Jesus never promised His disciples they would live without opposition, rejection, or suffering. He invited them to become people whose deepest reverence for God was greater than every lesser fear.

When our loves are rightly ordered, our fears follow.

The fear of God doesn't make us anxious before Him.
It frees us from being ruled by everything else.

"The fear of God makes us fearless before man."

Following Jesus is not about finding the path of ease, it has always been about becoming the kind of people who bear His life faithfully wherever life finds us.

Discipleship is not learning to avoid the cross, it is learning to carry it faithfully in love, hope, and unwaivering trust. In Matthew 10 Jesus does not promise His disciples comfort, popularity, financial gain, or an easy life.

He prepares them to be faithful when following Him is costly. He assures them it is not in vain because the Father knows them, Christ is with them, and the Spirit empowers them.

May we become a people who follow Jesus not only when it is comfortable, but especially when faithfulness costs us something...

Life in our modern world has a way of making us grasp for things and desire what never truly pleases the ache within.

But Jesus, the true Life, keeps speaking to us of a different way, and of a different world.

“The life we protect from Jesus is the life we lose. The life we surrender to Jesus is the life we find.”

The words of Jesus in Matthew 10:24-39 do not soften the call to this other way. In truth they deepen and clarify it. It is a call to reorder our lives, loves, and fears around God.

He is not asking for part of us, but all of us. Because only the life formed in surrender, trust, and love can truly learn and live the way of the Kingdom of God.

This is not loss, it is a life being formed in Him. Learning the way of the Kingdom means we keep giving Jesus access to the places we guard the most…

Because it is there that true life is found…

Discipleship is more than believing the right things or having occasional spiritual experiences. It is a life long journey of learning Christ. It is allowing our loves, fears, priorities, and habits to be shaped by his Truth.

Jesus does not invite us to admire him from a distance, rather he calls us to follow him, to walk his path, and to become a people whose lives reflect His Kingdom.

May we continue the journey of learning His ways and embodying His love every day.

Being a Christian is not just affirming a set of beliefs. It is a way of life we are called to live.

Jesus calls us not only to hear His words, but to follow in His footsteps.
