*** Important Message for Liberty Members - Please Read ***
Greetings! This has been a time for momentous change at Liberty. Over the past 13 months or so, Liberty has walked through the process of merging with Cottondale Baptist Church. Both congregations prayerfully and overwhelmingly decided to merge into one new church to meet at the Liberty location. A team of interested members drafted a biblical vision of what our new church would look like. This vision was overwhelmingly approved, and we have decided to call our new church Hillside Baptist Church.

Going forward as a church, we decided to restore meaningful church membership, where church membership is held as a sacred honor. Members participate in a covenant involving both privileges and responsibilities. This provides us an opportunity to turn over a new leaf, begin anew, and hold ourselves accountable to our commitments to one another and love one another as the Bible commands. For this reason and others, there will NOT be an automatic transfer of membership from Liberty to Hillside.

For existing Liberty members there will be a two-step process to join Hillside:
(1) We will have a 4-week, large-scale membership class beginning Sun. Jan. 22. In order to have one's membership transferred from Liberty to Hillside, attendance at all four sessions will be required. If one is missed, you will need to view the missed session either from our page or YouTube channel, or DVDs are available upon request. (If you cannot attend due to health reasons, please contact elders Ron Jones or Chad Hendley)

(2) Following the series, on Feb. 19, we will have a special covenant signing day followed by a fellowship meal. This will be YOUR opportunity to affirm and sign the new church covenant.

For those not members of Liberty, you will also need to have an elder interview—a conversation where we get to know you, hear how you came to faith in Christ, and make sure you understand the expectations of membership at our church.

Liberty members who don't go through this process won't automatically be transferred to Hillside but may join Hillside at any future time through our normal membership process as described in the new constitution and by-laws.
