COATS FOR KIDS
The Knights of Columbus are collecting new winter
coats for needy children during September and Octo
ber. The coats will be donated to the Easthampton
Community Center for distribution. Sizes 6 to 16 are
the most requested sized but all sizes are welcome.
Coats can be placed in the Collection Box located in the
Church Hall.

Pope St. Pius X Catechetical Award Announcement

We are thrilled to announce that Elaine Lachapelle, a catechist in our PK-12 religious education
program at OLV, will be receiving the Pope St. Pius X Catechetical Award from the Diocese of
Springfield during a special award ceremony on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at St. Michael’s
Cathedral in Springfield, MA. The award will be given during a Holy Mass offered in honor of
Catechetical Sunday, which will be taped for the Chalice of Salvation program at 6:00 p.m. We
invite our OLV parish family members to join us by 5:45 p.m. at St. Michael’s for the Holy Mass,
and for all catechists who have previously received the award to wear their Pope St. Pius X award
pins to the ceremony in support of our friend in Christ, Elaine.
Pope St. Pius X is the “Pope of the Eucharist,” who lowered the First Holy Communion age from
twelve to seven; published the catechism in a question-and-answer format; reformed sacred music
in the Church; and is remembered for handing out candies to city children, giving catechetical
lessons as they ate the sweet treats! Please pray for many blessings on our catechist, Elaine,
through the intercession of Pope St. Pius X, in thanksgiving for all of the blessings that she brings
to our students and families! We are grateful to Elaine for guiding children to know and treasure
God’s sweetness, and are looking forward to honoring God for working through her to nourish
souls with His love!
