Table Church We do church sitting around a big table, like a family at dinner. It involves food, worship and making big deal out of Jesus! A church where it is not about us.

We do things a little different, kind of old fashioned, kind of new...we like to say we do church the way church was intended.

During the Feast of Tabernacles, giant lampstands in the temple courts lit up the whole city of Jerusalem — a nightly reminder of the pillar of fire that once led Israel through the wilderness. Standing right where those lamps burned, Jesus makes one of the most direct claims in his entire ministry.
In this episode we walk through John 8:12–30, where Jesus declares "I am the light of the world," gets challenged on his right to say it, and answers with language that reaches all the way back to the burning bush.

The Crowd was Divided!

Jesus is teaching openly in the temple — and nobody's stopping him. The crowd starts asking the question out loud: do the authorities actually think this man is the Messiah? By the end of this passage, the crowd has split in two, the temple police have come back without their prisoner, and a Pharisee named Nicodemus has spoken up in public without quite saying what everyone wanted him to say. This is John 7:25–52 — the second half of the Feast of Tabernacles sequence, and one of the most layered chapters in the whole gospel. In this episode we walk through three moments: the confrontation (Jesus vs. the crowd's assumptions about where the Messiah would come from), the invitation (his stunning cry on the last day of the festival — "if anyone is thirsty, come to me and drink"), and the aftermath (a crowd that can't agree, guards who return empty-handed, and Nicodemus taking a half-step). We also slow down on why the living water announcement is bigger than it sounds — and what Nicodemus almost said.

From John chapter 7 we find Jesus' family is trying to get him to put himself out there in the public eye before it is time.

The crowd, having witnessed Jesus feed 5,000, followed him across the lake, eager for more. This moment captures Jesus' profound "biblical teachings" as he declared himself the bread from heaven, the real food and drink. His "words of Jesus" in this account challenge their understanding, promising eternal life to those who partake in his body and blood, a message central to faith and the gospel itself.
