Call Directions

Table Church We do church sitting around a big table, like a family at dinner. It involves food, worship and making big deal out of Jesus! A church where it is not about us.

We do things a little different, kind of old fashioned, kind of new...we like to say we do church the way church was intended.

The crucial lesson is recognizing our true place. We aren't the most important in God's kingdom; we are simply messengers. Elevating ourselves or our titles above servantship is a mistake. A pastor's true title should be shepherd servant, not 'servant leader'.

Even knowing the betrayal and abandonment to come, Jesus washed his disciples' feet. It wasn't for admiration, but to teach that no one is too important for humble service. Are we forgetting this in our own communities?

In the same breath, Jesus honors the man about to betray him and gives his followers the one mark he wants them known by forever. In John 13, love comes before doctrine, before performance, and even before loyalty.

Jesus' disciples weren't always present, and Peter even denied him. Yet, Jesus washed their feet. He did this not for admiration, but to show that no one is too important to serve others. A profound lesson for the 12 apostles.

Imagine cleaning dirty feet in your underwear with just a towel. Jesus did exactly that for his disciples, a task usually reserved for the lowest of the low. This wasn't a leadership lesson, but a profound act of servanthood, teaching humility even to those who would betray him.
