Walking By the Spirit

The Holy Spirit is not distant or inactive; He is present, powerful, and continually at work in the lives of believers.

At Pentecost, the disciples were filled with boldness and purpose, and that same Spirit is still moving today. He guides us when we feel uncertain, strengthens us when we feel weak, comforts us in difficult seasons, and transforms us day by day into who God has called us to be!

Walking by the Spirit was never meant to be a one-time experience. Though we receive Him fully as a person, our relationship with Him is built daily through prayer, time in God’s Word, and faithful obedience.

Pray. Read. Respond. Repeat.

Weekend Recap @ New Hope 📸

This weekend, we continued our What We Believe series with Part 4: God the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday. Pastor Jeff walked us through Acts 2 and the powerful moment the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, reminding us that the Holy Spirit is God’s promised Helper who lives within every believer through faith in Jesus Christ. We were encouraged to reflect on what it truly means to walk by the Spirit daily through prayer, time in God’s Word, and active faith. The message challenged us to not only know about the Holy Spirit, but to allow Him to continually transform our hearts, strengthen our faith, and empower us to boldly live for Christ in our everyday lives.

Bible Challenge: John 14, 15, & 16 and Acts 1 & 2

Verse of the Day: "And Peter said to them, 'Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'" Acts 2:38 (ESV)

Weekend Recap at New Hope 📸
Sermon: What We Believe (Pt. 3 God the Son)

We looked at who Jesus is, how He became incarnate, and why it matters for our faith today. Scripture clearly presents Jesus as the Son of God, affirmed by witnesses, the Father, the spiritual realm, and Jesus Himself through His “I Am” statements. We were reminded that Jesus, fully God and fully man, took on flesh through the miraculous virgin birth, humbling Himself to serve and ultimately to save. Because He lived a real human life, facing temptation, pain, and suffering, He can sympathize with us and lead us. And because He is fully God, He reveals the heart, character, and love of the Father. His life, death, and resurrection call us to stand firm in what we believe and to follow His example of humility, obedience, and sacrificial love!

Bible Challenge: Mark 5 & 6, John Chapters 6, 8, 10, 11, & 14, Philippians 2

Verse of the Day: "For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily." Colossians 2:9 (ESV)

The Women at the Cross- Still Speaking

As we move through the week, a lot of us are still thinking about Sunday’s message and the women who stayed near Jesus at the cross, steady, faithful, and present. When most people pulled back, they stayed close, and Scripture makes sure we don’t miss that.

It’s a good reminder for all of us: A strong church isn’t built on a few big personalities. It’s built on everyday people who show up for Jesus and for each other.

We also saw Jesus’ heart very clearly. Even in His final moments, He cared for His mother! He honored the women around Him. He moved toward the hurting with compassion, the same compassion we see in Luke 7:13, "And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

That’s the kind of heart we want to carry into the rest of this week. Into our homes, our friendships, and into the way we talk to each other and the way we serve!

Let’s be a church that sees people the way Jesus does! A church that values women the way He did and a church that shows compassion in real, practical ways.

And to everyone who served at the Pop‑Up Pantry on Saturday, thank you. Your quiet, steady faithfulness is exactly the kind of thing we saw in Sunday’s message.

Keep going, New Hope family! Jesus is at work in you this week!
