Bethlehem Temple Prayer Team

Bethlehem Temple Prayer Team The Mission of the Prayer Ministry is to connect people to Christ through prayer. Our aim is to lead the church in both individual and corporate prayer.

In submission to Jesus Christ as the Head of the Church, we strive to obey his command that His Church be called a House of Prayer.

There are so many reasons to fear but one powerful reason not to. Jesus is still calming storms—especially the ones in our minds and hearts. Be encouraged💕

There is an African proverb that says: “When you pray, move your feet.” Meditative, introspective time with the Father is necessary. The word of God also calls us to be passionately concerned about the plight of the least among us.

The collision of COVID-19 and below freezing temperatures have created a crisis for those who are unhoused in the metro east. Organizations working on the front-line are in need of volunteers, financial support, and in-kind donations. Today we pray in line with that African proverb that God will move us to action birthed in compassion.

Today’s prayer: Oh Lord, our Lord, your name is excellent. We thank you for the access we have to you through the finished work of Christ. God, we know how you love us, how your compassion for humanity caused you to make the ultimate sacrifice. Father, will you develop within us a love for the disregarded and the forgotten among us? Will you help us to pray like Jesus, with our mouths and with our actions? In Jesus’ name, amen.

At some point in our lives, people will disappoint us. For followers of the Way, it can be especially hurtful when a disappointment or betrayal of trust comes at the "hands" of someone we hold in high spiritual esteem. Today we pray in line with the hymn below that our hope would be rooted in Christ alone.

Today's prayer: Father, bring comfort to those experiencing a breach of trust. In our moments of darkness, weakness, grief, help us to rest in your grace and to look to you, the source of our strength. Help us to remember that we are all at best wavering images of you. That you alone are consistently good and worthy of our highest esteem. And even in our acknowledgement of our weakness, help us to commit to living lives that honor you, that others may see our good works and glorify YOU. In Jesus name, Amen.

I remember once going through a particularly difficult time in my life, a time when I felt overwhelmed and utterly alone. A spiritual mentor pulled me to the side and said, “Talk to God about it.” There are times in our lives when we need the comfort of our humans—the ones closest to us. And then there are times when we or the ones we love need to be led to the One who loves us MORE. If your heart is overwhelmed tonight, drowning in the cares of this present moment, may I lead you to the Rock who is higher than us all? Take a moment and tell God about it❤️

We are concluding our 7 days of from the Bible with Jesus’ high priestly prayer found in John the 17th chapter. Take some time today to read verses 9-26. As Jesus prepares to transfer the enormous responsibility of spreading the gospel into the hands of His disciples, who He loves, we find a prayer that resonates powerfully through the ages and continues to bear fruit.

Today’s reminds us that even when things are chaotic, God is present with us and able to help us thrive in the midst of it all. We need only ask. Listen to Jabez pray to the God who loves us so! 1 Chronicles 4:9-10

Day 5
In Scripture, through His prayer life, Jesus teaches us not only to call God Abba (Father), he also shows us what it truly means to be an heir, a child of God. His candid conversations with God remind us that God desires authentic intimacy with us. Listen as Jesus prays in Matthew 26 and repeat after Him, “Nevertheless...not my will, but Yours.”
