I am Godly grateful for all the Lord has done and allowed us to experience here at New Ephesus Baptist Church and the NECSC Nonprofit in East Orange. What a joy filled wknd this has been. I am humbled and enamored beyond my ability to express it. Infact any words I may use to describe the joy I feel in my heart will fail in comparison to the magnitude of all I am experiencing.
It has indeed been a long journey however as long as the journey has been God has shown Himself faithful every step of the way. TGBTG!!!!!
This wknd the New Ephesus Community Services Corp Nonprofit celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony and community block party of our new facility for ministry, “THE NECSC HOUSE OF HOPE RECOVERY HOME FOR WOMEN.”
I am honored to serve as the founder and CEO of this great organization.
In 2024 30% of the women in Essex County were homeless. In 2025 the homeless women population had increased by 15% which indicated a need to address this homeless situation.
New Ephesus Baptist Church and The New Ephesus Community Services Corporation, non-profit organization saw the need to renovate the house at 184 Brookwood Street (Block 148-Lot 43) to provide a safe, stable, and supportive housing facility designed for young women in the community.
184 Brookwood Street would be the NECSC House of Hope Recovery Home for Women. Those who are recovering from homelessness, family instability, abuse, neglect, addiction, and economic hardship are the most vulnerable populations in our community. Many young women in East Orange and surrounding areas experience significant barriers to stable housing, education, employment, healthcare access, and emotional support systems.
There is a critical need for safe space and housing combined with comprehensive supportive service that address not only immediate shelter needs but also education, life skills, mental wellness and personal development. The NESCS House of Hope will provide those needs for young women, so that they can be a productive, independent woman in our community.
This is what this weekend was about. This weekend has made the journey the hard work the discouraging and uncertain days worth it.
We give God praise for our Sisters and sheros who took the time to listen hear and truly understand the vision of this project and not only stand with us but champion our cause be our voice to speak and our legs to enter rooms we did not have access to. We give God praise for the heart diligence steadfast love and commitment to their people Senator Britnee Timberlake and Assemblywoman Shanique Speight will forever be champions.
In 2025 with their help our nonprofit was award a budget resolution from the state of Nj for 500K
to do this great work and service in the community and state. This year we were awarded 250K so that this work will continue and function beyond construction of our new facility. Gods spirit voice hands feet and heart is no doubt present and alive in Trenton. We are forever in your debt
Thank you to Dr. Ronald L. Slaughter and the St. James AME Church who came to culminate and help of conclude this wknd of celebration. My story has not changed. I learned how to begin a nonprofit because God used Ronald Slaughter gave me the play book consulted me and walked me through where to start and how begin and the rest is NECSC HOUSE OF HOPE RECOVERY HOME FOR WOMEN.
