Nominations Voters' Meeting Next Sunday, May 17 Following Divine Service:

There will be an important Voters' Meeting next week, May 17 (the Third Sunday in May) for nominations to positions on our Church Council.

The President, Board Chairs of Stewardship and Evangelism have indicated that they are not seeking re-election, all critical positions for our Church need to be filled to continue forward. All three positions require new candidates.

PLEASE consider serving Jesus in one of these positions and in doing so bless our congregation.

If you are not yet a member of the Voters' Assembly and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, we encourage you to join. The process is simple. Attend next Sunday's Meeting, receive a Constitution of the Church and sign a registration sheet.

Due to New York State Law, the Voters' Assembly is separate from Congregational Membership. To be eligible to Vote or have a voice in the Congregation one must be a member of the Voters' Assembly. We would like to have 100percent of our membership at Christ to also be a part of the Voters' Assembly.

If you have been a member of the Voters' Assembly in the past but have not attended meetings, simply come to the meeting and your membership is automatically reinstated.

Palm Sunday service takes place on Sunday, March 29 at 10:15am - all are welcome to join us.

On this day we recall Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey, with the crowd throwing down clothing and palm branches before Him.

Their cry? "Hosanna to the Son of David."

As we will hear in Sunday's sermon, Hosanna means, "Save us Now."

However, when the cry goes out, "save us now" we must ask "Save us from what.

Those in the crowd wanted Jesus to be their king and save them from the oppression of their enemies- like Rome, Samaria, and the surrounding heathen nations.

That is not what Jesus comes to do. As He stands before Pontius Pilate at the end of this week, He tells Pilate, "My Kingdom is not of this world."

Jesus is not an earthly king. Jesus does not come to save us from our earthly enemies. Jesus comes to take on the enemies behind the enemies: Our sin. Our death. Our Hell. Those things that breed earthly enemies. Ultimately He comes to deliver us from the power of darkness and the devil, rescuing us from eternal death. Jesus comes to take away our sin.

Through faith given to us by the Holy Spirit, when we cry "Hosanna" to Jesus, He saves us eternally. This is why we sing, "Hosanna, loud hosanna." For He has come to save us.

Palm Sunday worship takes place at 10:15am this Sunday with Palm Sunday Hymnody, readings, Sermon, and Holy Communion.
