We're invited into a relationship with Jesus through daily prayer. Setting time aside intentionally each day is key.

This 7 minute video explains how to follow Jesus' example of daily prayer.

What does it mean to live a life of daily prayer? By following Jesus’ example—rising early to seek God in quiet, intentional times—we can transform our relat...

2025 Diocesan Services Appeal

“You Are my Chosen Witnesses.” This scripture from the Prophet Isaiah shows us that we are called to bear witness to our faith in Jesus Christ.

Your generous DSA contribution will support dozens of ministries that help people both spiritually and physically – bringing hope, comfort, and salvation to so many in our diocese.

Next weekend, our parish will conduct Commitment Weekend for our Diocesan Services Appeal. This is when we will be asking each member of the East Lansing Catholic Community to consider a generous gift to the annual DSA.

Our parish goal of $227,445.47 can be reached if each one of us responds to God’s call to be witnesses and shares a portion of the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. This is the same goal as last year which you so generously surpassed donating $245,167.50. Thank you!

Please prayerfully consider how you or your family will respond to this call to witness the work of Christ in our community.

What’s the difference between DSA and Stewardship for Saints and Scholars gifts? DSA gifts support the efforts of the many ongoing ministries across the diocese.

Stewardship for Saints and Scholars gifts are a long-term investment in the future of Catholic Schools and the education and formation of our children. Both types of gifts are necessary and responsible uses of the financial gifts with which God has graced us.

LIVE THE LITURGY —

Too many of us make the mistake of expecting prosperity here on Earth as a reward for following Christ. But Jesus is very clear: sorrow and hardship are a part of life. But when we offer these sufferings to Christ, they become transformed. They become blessed. And so do we.

On Sunday, we heard the Beatitudes from Luke which are different than those in Mark. Jesus very clearly states what brings blessing and what brings woe.

And raising his eyes toward his disciples he said:
“Blessed are you who are poor,
for the kingdom of God is yours.
Blessed are you who are now hungry,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who are now weeping,
for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you,
and when they exclude and insult you,
and denounce your name as evil
on account of the Son of Man.
Rejoice and leap for joy on that day!
Behold, your reward will be great in heaven.
For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way.
But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.
Woe to you who are filled now,
for you will be hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will grieve and weep.
Woe to you when all speak well of you,
for their ancestors treated the false prophets in this way.”

Sunday, February 23 at St. John
OLIVE WOOD SALE
9:00am - 8:00pm
Downstairs in McDevitt Hall.

We are the Holy Land Carvings group, and we are proud to represent the Christian woodcarvers of Bethlehem. These artisans rely on tourism, but due to the war in Israel, they have lost their jobs and are unable to provide for their families.

Our goal is to sell beautiful hand-carved Olive Wood religious items, including Nativity Scenes, Crucifixes, Rosaries, Statues, Pictures of the Last Supper, and many other religious items, to Catholic Churches in the United States. By purchasing one of these items, you will be supporting the Christian families in the Holy Land and helping them provide for their families and maintain their jobs.

We invite you to take a moment to browse through the carvings that will be available on Sunday February 23. We deeply appreciate your support.
