We are the First Congregational Church of East Haven, also known as the Old Stone Church, because of our place in the center of town, because our building is made of stone, and because it is very old; in fact, the main sanctuary was finished in 1774. We are a Protestant church, and are covenant members of The United Church of Christ. We are a thinking person’s church. We don’t claim to have all th

e answers, but we surely are good at posing the questions. We may disagree on the answers, but a strong part of our history and foundation includes the belief that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, and that we don’t need to have a cookie-cutter set of beliefs in order to be a faithful Christian. We are a seeking person’s church. We delight in seeking out what it means to be a faithful Christian in today’s world, in studying what the writers of the Bible intended in their day, and in what those words could possibly mean to us in ours. We are a welcoming church, whose hope is that you might find a spiritual home with us. “Whoever you are, wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”Please take a moment to browse through the pages of our site, to get more of a feel for what our church is all about.
