Abram receives a difficult invitation from God: leave what is familiar and journey toward an unknown future. There are no detailed maps, no guarantees, and no certainty about what lies ahead. Yet Abram goes. This Sunday we’ll explore what faith looks like when we cannot see the entire path before us. Sometimes discipleship begins with a single courageous step. The opening chapter of Genesis invites us into a world filled with wonder. Light and darkness. Oceans and stars. Birds and animals. Humanity itself. Again and again, God looks upon creation and declares it good. This Sunday we’ll reflect on what it means to live in a world that is not merely useful, but sacred. We’ll consider how wonder changes the way we see creation, one another, and ourselves. Join us for worship at South Church this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ~Pastor Kevin

Today we celebrated Pentecost with a sanctuary full of pinwheels, color, movement, and joy.

Throughout worship, we remembered that you can never actually see the wind. You only see what it does.

The same is true of God’s Spirit.

As we reflected on Acts 2, we heard again:

“You cannot see the Spirit itself, but you can see its fingerprints everywhere.”

And perhaps the greatest miracle of Pentecost was this:

“The miracle wasn’t simply that people spoke. The miracle was that people connected.”

Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s celebration so meaningful - especially our children, who helped us see the wind in motion.

May we continue to watch for the Spirit’s fingerprints this week, in conversations that build understanding, in relationships that grow stronger, in communities that make room for one another, and in those ordinary moments when people discover they belong.

🍃 The Spirit is still moving. The wind is still blowing.

The church office will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

Pentecost is one of the most dramatic stories in scripture. Wind fills the room. Flames appear overhead. Ordinary people begin speaking in ways they never imagined possible. But Pentecost is about more than a remarkable event long ago. It is a reminder that God’s Spirit is still moving among us today—bringing courage where there was fear, connection where there was division, and possibility where people have given up hope.

This Sunday at South Church, we’ll celebrate the Spirit that continues to surprise, challenge, and inspire God’s people. As part of worship, every person will receive a colorful pinwheel upon entering the sanctuary. Whenever the word Spirit is spoken or sung during the service, we’ll be invited to raise, spin, or gently blow on our pinwheels. The movement throughout the sanctuary will become a visible reminder that while we cannot see the Spirit itself, we can see the Spirit at work among us.

Join us this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. as we celebrate the wind of God still blowing through our lives, our church, and our world.

Today we opened the Prayground at South Church. ❤️

A space where children can fully belong in worship - learning, wondering, creating, and participating alongside the congregation.

Today the children colored, read, and engaged with questions connected to the sermon while worshipping alongside the congregation.

The church is stronger when every generation is part of the circle. What a beautiful morning together ❤️

What really holds a church together? This Sunday at South Church, we’ll reflect on Jesus’ prayer for his followers and what it means to be bound together not by sameness, but by love, compassion, and shared purpose. In a world that so often pulls people apart, we’ll consider how a community of faith can become a place of belonging, mutual care, and grace. Come be part of worship this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. There is a place for you here. ~Pastor Kevin
