What a joy to celebrate Julia and Nick! As the Woodward House residents this past year, they have been a blessing to the community. Julia offered a series of presentations on “Abrahamic Religions” along with playing in the praise band and lending a helping hand at a number of events. In Nick’s three months he has filled potholes, done a puppet show, and pulled weeds in the playground- among other odds and ends. They worked together on a games and ice cream afternoon and have both been a joy to be with. Glad we could be a caring community in Julia’s first year out of college and touched to hear what a positive and inspiring year it has been for them. So happy to send the newlyweds off on their next chapter with love and blessings!

In a divisive and lonely world, we need more spaces for genuine connection and authentic community. And so I’m excited to delve into our summer worship series, “I’ve been meaning to ask…” a series for curiosity, courage and connection, crafted by A Sanctified Art.

Tomorrow’s service kicks us off with a creative unique worship experience featuring time for real conversation, holy communion, a 250th celebration puppet show, patriotic special music and Sunday School for the children. Join in at 10:00 am

Over twenty years ago, I received the call to ministry during a session of Lectio Divina. It was powerful and I look forward to sharing with you the art of Lectio Divina ("Holy Reading") in our Bible Study TONIGHT at 7:00 pm on Zoom. We will use Psalm 22 as our basis for this ancient spiritual practice of praying with scripture.

Garden Stone Commemoration of Frank Forrest

Frank Forrest was a key leader in the first garden bucket sale, benefitting East Hartford Schools' Community Gardens and Farm to School programs. In honor of Frank's tireless work to get fresh, healthy food to those in need in East Hartford, the East Hartford Hunger Action Team will be placing a commemorative garden stone at the Goodwin Elementary School Garden (the first school garden in East Hartford!). Rev. Kelly Jane Caesar will lead us in a brief, secular service commemorating his years of service at 3:30 pm, prior to the start of the Garden Bucket Sale. In the event of rain and the bucket sale is postponed, the service will be held on the postponed date.
