What an incredible celebration of the Eucharist and Profession on Saturday. The Mass was everything I had hoped for and so much more. The truth is Kevin and I committed to living the Franciscan Spirituality a while back. Formation did take over three years. We knew that would be part of lives even if we didn’t make it to Profession and there were moments!
My heart and soul knew this Mass was meant to be a moment for others to witness the power of faith even when it is reduced to the size of mustard seed, on bad soil, or hidden under a basket. (all bible references) Once connected in mutual faith experiences those ties can never be broken.
Attendance at mass included:
People who haven’t been to Mass in years,
People who haven’t been in Mass together for years,
People from different walks of Christian faith,
Former Colleagues that have stayed connected even though it’s been four years and they had to travel five highways to get south of Boston. (lol),
Friends and foes,
People who worship in various places
All coming together for this beautiful celebration and becoming a family, no matter the background, for this Eucharistic Celebration. Fr. Paul, Kevin and I had the privilege of attending some very powerful Masses in our journey with Ministry and the love that flowed to the front row with the responses and singing was something neither of us have ever experienced.
No matter the path ahead, we will forever be a family of faith, united, and it felt like our original faith family was sending us off to our Franciscan family with so much love and warmth. We were so touched by the joy flowing from our fraternity members and fellow Franciscans. I don’t know what lies ahead but received confirmation of the love we shared to created a vibrant and active Parish was real and genuine.
The date was not our first or even second choice. You can not image the work it took to find a date, but I don’t think it was any accident that our Mass took place on Pentecost weekend. With Fr. Ken’s guidance we all experienced the grace the Holy Spirit brings.
We did it! God gave us the opportunity to bring us all together again-for Mass. God is so good
