Not sure whats appropriate but here goes:
At the Berlin Fair many many people asked about the burned out building that was our church.
On 4/1/21 we had a fire. It was extinguished by multiple fire depts. We secured AIR restoration company to secure the building and safely secure it and our contents.
We began a process of begging to use our own funds to build to reopen. At every turn our regional church was against us. All 4 pastors in our “New Room Parish” voted to close us and our DS also voted to close us and offered no help or guidance, during the 3 years of dealing with contractors and insurance.
Culminating the 2 plus years of begging, we wrote a mission plan for our ministry in our new building, with its commercial kitchen. Plans to serve the community. Our regional church leadership ‘rejected’ our proposal without feedback of any kind in May ‘23.
7/9/23 we had a final service.
The church was never decommissioned. It sits there rotting with a brand new roof on it.
EB church people were caring for the property til recently though we have been locked out for months.
The church is not going to reopen. The news media that was interested never bothered to follow up and cover the end. Bottomline; we were not a big church, we needed more to attend in the end our location was no longer needed, nor wanted.
To my actual church family, Im not sure this is my job to lay it all out but the Fair was so gut wrenching with the community asking and asking.
We all know we did everything could so why let people think differently?
We gave our booth to the Lions because our “parish” voted that they could not handle it successfully. And they could not have. It takes a lot of effort and dedication, beyond what the parish could muster.
So thats it the “church” frittered away all the efforts of a very fine group of servants of the Lord. Amen
