Signed, sealed, and delivered!
With appreciation for the unflagging care of Putney Friends Meeting, who cooks for the Groundworks Shelter in Brattleboro each month, we wanted to offer some respite to the helpers and brought several casseroles over the river last night in the snow - enough to feed 60 people. Thank you to all who helped make this happen and to all our Friends who express their care on the regular ❤️

Happy WORLD QUAKER DAY!!

“War is the opposite of loving our neighbour. Genocide is the opposite of loving our neighbour. Racism, xenophobia and religious bigotry are all opposites of loving our neighbours.

“‘And who is my neighbour?’” the lawyer asks Jesus. In response he tells the parable of the Good Samaritan. The good neighbour of the story is the one of another nationality, another race, and another religion.

Every one of us has a choice. Do we seek to nurture the seed within us which leads us to love our neighbour? Or do we harden our hearts so that the seed perishes on rocky ground?

I choose Love, and I pray every day to be open to it, led by it, and shaped by it. And I pray that as each person turns to the compassion within them, this will lead to a more peaceful world.”
