Royal Ambassadors and Girls In Action of Jones Avenue Baptist Church

Royal Ambassadors and Girls In Action of Jones Avenue Baptist Church Royal Ambassadors and Girls In Action are Bible-centered, church-based, Southern Baptist missions education organizations for boys and girls in grades 1-5.

The RA Motto, "We are Ambassadors for Christ," not only gives the organization its name, but also gives the boys and leaders a lifestyle goal. This Motto is taken from Scripture, specifically 2 Corinthians 5:20. The Scripture passage 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 describes the purpose of Royal Ambassadors:

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look,

new things have come. Now everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ; certain that God is appealing through us, we plead on Christ's behalf, 'Be reconciled to God.'" (2 Cor. 5:17-20, HCSB)

This month, we are focusing on motorcycle ministry! Michele Newsome cofounded F.A.I.T.H. Riders motorcycle ministry with her late husband, Buddy. This ministry is different from other ministries because it has chapters—local branches—that are part of Southern Baptist churches. They use the local church as a means to disciple people who come to Jesus because of the ministry.

Pray Michele and other chaplains of the ministry would have wisdom to lead and would stay focused on the ministry of evangelism.

Happy 136th birthday, WMU! šŸŽ‰ On this day in 1888, a group of women delegates from 12 states formed what is now Woman’s Missionary Union. Annie Armstrong was elected as their first corresponding secretary. The women worked diligently to create a new missions movement — praying and systematically raising money for missions — affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Since May 14, 1888, WMU has helped lead Southern Baptist churches across the country to give over $7.6 billion through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering — efforts begun by WMU to support missionaries.

WMU’s unwavering focus on making disciples of Jesus who live on mission happens through missions discipleship, leadership development, and compassion ministries, with a kingdom impact in every state and nearly 50 countries. Today, we celebrate all that God has done through WMU for 136 years!

I love teaching kids about missions. What an amazing blessing it is to plant seeds about how God wants us to live on mission and to take His message to everyone. But before I could help plant those seeds in children, I had to grow them in me.
