Early, Iowa Catholics celebrate the church’s 125th birthday
Sacred Heart, a Gothic style brick church, was constructed and furnished at the approximate cost of $15,000. It was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on July 30, 1899.
The 125 years will be commemorated Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church, in Early, with a mass at 1:00 p.m., presided by Brent Lingle, pastor. Clergy serving the parish in the past will be invited to join Father Lingle in celebrating the mass for this special occasion.
Following the mass, refreshments will be served in the parish center. At the same time, music will be provided by Sisters & Strings Infusion of Kansas City from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Weather permitting, narrated cemetery tours will begin at 2:30. Those choosing to participate in the tour will learn about the forefathers of the parish. A trolly will be available to transport guests to and from the cemetery.
