Hoping to do a super fun makeover at the church again this year for VBS. Our theme in Rainforest. If anyone has old fake greenery you no longer use or perhaps some tropical bird/jungle animal items, we’d love to use them. If you want them back, just be sure your name is on it, otherwise we will donate after. Thank you!

On this Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We pray God’s peace and comfort over the families who carry their memory each day. May we never forget the courage, service, and love shown by those who gave everything, and may God continue to bless our nation. 🇺🇸✝️

Robert "Bob" Olsen, of Earlville, Illinois, passed away on April 18th, 2026, at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, Illinois. He was born on December 18th, 1956 in Mendota, Il, to Harold and Elaine (Anderson) Olsen.

Bob was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville. He graduated from Earlville High School with the class of 1975. Bob was a dedicated employee who loved his job as a crane operator for Clark Dietrich in Rochelle.

Bob has a passion for music, especially the rock bands of the 1970-1980s. He was also a devoted sports fan and a diehard supporter of the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

He is survived by his sister, Jean Olsen Slott, his niece Jessica (Josh) Gates of Geneva; his nephew Jake Slott of Batavia; his Aunt Avis Rosenow of Tampico; several cousins; and Trey Gauer who was a special part of Bob's life and whom he often referred to as his stepson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Elaine Olsen, and his brother Glen Olsen.

We would like to invite family and friends to join us in honoring and remembering Robert "Bob" Olsen.

Services held Saturday May 2nd at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 415 S. East St., Earlville. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 am and Services at 11:00 am. We would like any gift to go to the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Earlville, or the American Cancer Society in hopes for a cure. For more information or to sign the online guestbook go to www.EighnerFuneralHomes.com

Since Bob was a huge sports and music fan, we would love to celebrate his spirit by inviting everyone to wear their favorite sports jersey or 70's- 80's rock band shirt.
