✝️ Memorial of St. Peter Claver, Priest
📅 September 9

Today, the Church remembers St. Peter Claver, a Spanish Jesuit priest who dedicated his life to serving enslaved Africans arriving in Cartagena, Colombia, in the 17th century.

St. Peter Claver went beyond simply preaching about Christ—he encountered Christ in those who were suffering. He cared for the sick, provided food and medicine, defended the dignity of those who had been enslaved, and brought them the hope and love of the Gospel.

He is remembered for his words:

“We must speak to them with our hands before we try to speak to them with our lips.”

His life challenges us to ask: Do our actions show the love of Christ to those who are hurting, forgotten, or treated unjustly?

May the example of St. Peter Claver inspire us to recognize the dignity of every person as a beloved child of God and to serve others with compassion, courage, and humility.

🙏 St. Peter Claver, pray for us!
🙏 May we always see Christ in those who suffer and respond with love.

🌹 Happy Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary! 🌹

Today, September 8, the Church joyfully celebrates the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary—the woman chosen by God to become the Mother of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Mary’s birth is a beautiful reminder that God prepares the way for His saving plan, often beginning in ways that seem small and hidden. From the very beginning, Mary’s life was destined to point us toward Christ.

As we celebrate her birthday, let us ask Mary to teach us her virtues of humility, faith, obedience, and trust in God’s will. May we, like Mary, say “yes” to God and allow Him to work through our lives.

🙏 Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
🙏 Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for our families and our parish!

🌹 “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” — Luke 1:38

Happy Birthday, Blessed Mother! ❤️💙

🙏 Memorial of St. Gregory the Great — September 3 🙏

Today the Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church.

St. Gregory was a remarkable shepherd, teacher, and servant of God who lived during a challenging time in the history of the Church. As Pope, he worked tirelessly to care for the poor, reform the Church, strengthen the faith of God’s people, and spread the Gospel.

He reminds us that true greatness in the eyes of God is found in humble service. His life was rooted in prayer, charity, and a deep love for Christ and His Church.

St. Gregory once wrote: “The proof of love is in the works.” May his example inspire us not only to profess our faith, but to put our faith into action through love and service to others.

🙏 St. Gregory the Great, pray for us!
May we follow your example of faithful leadership, humble service, and unwavering devotion to Christ.

✝️ Memorial of the Passion of St. John the Baptist ✝️

Today, the Church remembers the Passion and Martyrdom of St. John the Baptist, the courageous voice who prepared the way for Christ.

John never hesitated to speak the truth, even when that truth was difficult or dangerous. He fearlessly called people to repentance and remained faithful to God’s Word—even when it cost him his life.

John’s witness reminds us that following Christ requires courage, humility, and faithfulness. Like John, we are called to point others toward Jesus, not toward ourselves.

“He must increase; I must decrease.” — John 3:30

May St. John the Baptist intercede for us, that we may have the courage to stand firmly for the truth, the humility to serve Christ faithfully, and the strength to remain faithful to the Gospel—whatever the cost.

🙏 St. John the Baptist, pray for us!

🙏 Happy Feast Day of St. Augustine of Hippo — Patron Saint of the Diocese of Laredo! 🙏

Today, August 28, the Church celebrates St. Augustine of Hippo, one of the greatest theologians, pastors, and saints in the history of the Church—and the patron saint of our beloved Diocese of Laredo.

St. Augustine’s life reminds us that God never gives up on us. For years, Augustine searched for truth and happiness in places that could never truly satisfy his heart. Through the prayers and tears of his mother, St. Monica, and by the grace of God, Augustine experienced a profound conversion and gave his life completely to Christ.

His famous words continue to speak to every restless heart:

“Our hearts are restless until they rest in You, O Lord.”

May St. Augustine inspire us to seek Christ above all things, to remain faithful to the truth of the Gospel, and to never lose hope in the power of God’s grace to transform lives.

🙏 St. Augustine, pray for us!
🙏 St. Augustine, patron of the Diocese of Laredo, pray for our bishop, clergy, religious, families, and all the faithful of our diocese.
🙏 Help us to know Christ, love Christ, and faithfully share Christ with the world.

Happy Feast Day! ❤️✝️

🙏🌹 Memorial of St. Monica 🌹🙏

Today, August 27, the Church honors St. Monica, a woman of deep faith, patient love, and unwavering prayer.

St. Monica is especially remembered for the years she spent praying for the conversion of her husband and, most especially, her son, St. Augustine. Her prayers were not answered immediately, but she never gave up. Through tears, patience, and steadfast trust in God, she continued to place her family into the hands of the Lord.

Her life reminds us that a mother’s—and a parent’s—prayers are powerful, even when we cannot yet see the fruits of those prayers.

🙏 Today, let us ask St. Monica to intercede for all parents who are praying for their children, especially those who have wandered from the faith or are struggling in their relationship with God.

St. Monica, pray for us.
St. Augustine, pray for us.
May we never lose hope in the power of prayer and the mercy of God. ❤️✝️

“Pray with confidence, for God hears the prayers of a faithful heart.”
