On My Heart
The Great King
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, even on a c**t, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9
Several weeks ago, the King of England came to the United States. He was greeted with great “pomp and circumstance”. The red carpets, state dinners, public ceremonies and various regalia were all on display. He received a royal welcome. 2000+ years ago the Great King of Kings arrived and lived without such fanfare. At best Jesus was greeted with palm fronds riding on the foal of a donkey. He did not receive great honor or recognition. He had a sizable following for a while and many were amazed by Him. Ultimately, however, He was abandoned by all but a few. When His condemnation came, most people gave up on the “King of the Jews”. Instead of the majesty He deserved, He received mockery. Instead of the Divine Crown, He was given a crown of thorns. Instead of receiving a King’s coronation, He received a criminal’s cross. Yet King Jesus in great defeat, won the great victory because “He is just and endowed with salvation”. In His death, burial and resurrection Jesus won the victory over sin. Listen friend, the Great King Jesus died for your sins. He took your place and rose again; victorious over death so that you too might defeat death. By trusting in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, your sins can be forgiven, and you will become a child of the Great King…King Jesus. He came humbly the first time…humble yourself before Him now, and He will come to you. ~ Pastor Jeff
“Our sins are debts that none can pay but Christ. It is not our tears, but His blood; it is not our sighs, but His sufferings, that can testify for our sins. Christ must pay all, or we are prisoners forever.” ~ Thomas Brooks
