Northernvbc

Northernvbc The Northern Volleyball Conference is an organization for men's and women's collegiate club volleyball in the upper Midwest region (MN, ND, SD).

The NVC is a member organization of the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF). The NVC presents opportunities for men's and women's collegiate club volleyball teams to compete in tournaments, participate in a season end championship, and whose membership with the NCVF allows teams to compete in a national championship each April. In the 2022 season (Jan - Apr), the NVC is comprised of 1

St Thomas drops two to St Louis in the quarterfinal match. They'll finish ties for 5th overall - a great improvement from their #17 start on Thursday.

UMD wins in two against U Pacific to advance to the semifinals where they will play St Louis. That match is at 330pm.

St Olaf, UMTC and St John's all lost their matches this morning to get eliminated from the tournament.

St Thomas and UMD both won their matches in exciting fashion, both going 3 sets. They will have quarterfinal gold division matches at 1pm.

NDSU easily won their first round and play their quarterfinal at 1030am.

Last day. Some good things happened last night.... and some not so good. ☹

1AAA
NDSU beat Brandeis 25-16 25-14 in their Silver Division challenge to remain in the Silver Championship bracket. They will take on Ball St.

Div 3
UMTC beat James Madison beat 25-16 25-16 and lost to Indiana 16-25 18-25 in their power pool. With the one win, they qualified for Gold! They will play Arizona B in the first round.

Div 2
St Olaf was a total mess and dropped their Silver Div challenge last night to Gannon Univ 13-25 16-25 and ends up in the consolation bracket for Silver. They will play Wash U St Louis.

St John's lost both matches in their consolation pool, losing 18-25 14-25 to Carnegie Mellon and 22-25 25-19 9-15 to Angelo St. They will play Rice Univ in the Copper bracket.

UMD beat UW Stevens Point 25-16 25-20 and lost to Army 19-25 17-25. They also qualified for Gold and will take on Azusa Pacific.

And as noted, St Thomas played into the top seed in Gold from last night's pool and will play Butler.

6 teams here, 3 teams on Gold. That's pretty damn good if you ask me!

Afternoon update...

St Olaf takes a classic afternoon nap and drops the first match to Grove City 22-25 15-25. Playing right away, they lose a heartbreaker to Colorado School of Mines 25-20 23-25 16-18. They drop to Silver Division for a challenge round to determine whether it will be Silver Championship or Silver Consolation. Taht will be at 7pm.

NDSU went 0-2 in the power pool, losing 14-25 12-25 to Rhode Island and 19-25 20-25 George Washington Univ. They will also play a Silver Division challenge tonight at 6pm.

UMTC plays their power pool at 6 and 7, against James Madison B and Indiana B.

St John's lost their first consolation pool to Carnegi Mellon 18-25 14-25 and are now playing Angelo State.

UMD won their first power pool against UW Stevens Point 25-16 25-20 and are now doing battle with Army.

And lastly, St Thomas wins their pool, beating Duke 25-16 25-20 and #1 seed iverall Villanova (who beat previously #1 St Louis Univ) to earn the #1 seed overall in the Gold Division bracket beginning tomorrow.

Last night's results:

UMTC lost to Missouri B 11-25 8-25. They will take on Texas St B in a challenge match at 9am.

NDSU lost to U San Diego 23-25 20-25. They are presently playing Rensselaer Poly in a challenge.

St Thomas lost to Davenport 18-25 19-25. They will be playing St John's.

UMD won a 3-setter last night to earn the right to sleep in this morning. That's how it's done. 25-19 23-25 15-10. They are in a championship power pool Army and the winner of UW Stevens Point and SUNY Oswego.

St Olaf will play Mich Tech at 9am.

St John's takes down Rice Univ in 3!!! 22-25 25-21 15. They will now play in a challenge round tomorrow morning.

NDSU again destroys their opponent, U Mississippi, 25-12 25-16.

UM Twin Cities won a nail biter in their second set, putting down Michigan St B 28-26 25-21.

St Olaf played point for point with LaCrosse but came up juuuust short, losing 23-25, 22-25. This team played amazingly well, showing everyone that we can now play with all teams in this tourney. Such growth!!

Playing now are St Thomas, UMD, St John's, NDSU, and UMTC in their last matches. More updates coming in the next hour or so.

After a rough first 5 points, St Olaf pulls off a 3 set win over College of New Jersey, 20-25, 25-20, 15-5.

St John's put up a valiant effort against Army but ultimately went down 20-25, 20-25.

U MN Twin Cities beat up on UT San Antonio 25-13 25-16 in their first round.

UMD, St Thomas, NDSU and UMTC are all playing their second round now. Stay tuned!
