Swaddling Clothes - Dyer, Indiana Swaddling Clothes is a free store for parents who need a little help getting clothing and diapers. How does “Swaddling Clothes” work?

From various donors, we assemble a collection of items associated with pregnancy and motherhood—baby clothes, diapers, formula, bottles, etc… Then, Grace Lutheran Church in Dyer hosts a “shopping day” where you can survey our collection and take whatever you need, up to a certain number of items. If any of the items you take can be re-donated to Swaddling Clothes when you are done with them, we as

k that you do so to help those in need after you. We also partner with a number of other organizations, providing you with referrals if you are seeking counseling, health care, employment, etc... And, of course, being a part of a Lutheran congregation, we are always ready to share pastoral care and a Gospel word with those who need them.

Today we are sending out letters to local Chapters of Sororities with long-standing histories of helping women in our communities, in the hopes they will support Swaddling Clothes with a donation drive. Some of them have already done so in the past. These sorts of donations are how Swaddling Clothes survives to help our families. We are grateful for the many individuals, organizations, and local Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod congregations that donate to Swaddling Clothes, often on a monthly basis.

POLICY CHANGE - Due to the high number of families in need and the lack of donations in some sizes, we are going to limit each shopper to a maximum of THREE children to be shopped for.

We are also updating our records and will be asking EVERYONE to fill out an intake form when you arrive, and list the children's ages, names, and sizes you're shopping for. These children need to be in your direct legal care.

This limit of 3 kids also applies to those special situations when you are shopping for a relative who cannot make it to our center. For example: If you have twins and your sister just had twins, and she informed us that you will be shopping for her because she's still in the hospital, you are still limited to THREE kids worth of diapers, clothing, and supplies.

We understand this places a hardship on some families, but we want to help as many families as possible.

When you come to Swaddling Clothes, each shopper is limited to a maximum of THREE kids. Thank you for your understanding.

We are currently in need of Diapers sizes 3, 4, 5, 6. Baby wash, diaper cream, and baby wipes. Please consider asking your church or employer to do a donation drive for us! We are blessed by several groups in the community that do this, but we can't keep up with demand. You can also donate through our wish list at the link below. Thank you for helping local families!
