Saint of the Day: Saint Patrick, the beloved patron saint of Ireland, was born in Roman Britain and kidnapped as a teenager, spending years in slavery as a shepherd in Ireland where he grew strong in faith and prayer. After escaping and returning home, he later felt called by God to return to Ireland as a missionary bishop. Through his preaching, baptisms, and the founding of Christian communities, he helped bring the Gospel to the Irish people. Tradition holds that he used the three-leaf clover, or shamrock, to teach about the mystery of the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three Persons in one God. Remembered for his humility, courage, and deep trust in God, Saint Patrick reminds us that God can use even our trials to lead others to Christ.

Celebrate the gift of Our Lady on Monday with these masses offered here at St. Genevieve (Because it falls on a Monday, a vigil on Sunday evening will not be offered).

Rose is one of the rarest liturgical colors used in the Catholic Church, appearing only twice in the entire liturgical year. On the Fourth Sunday of Lent, known as Laetare Sunday, priests may wear rose-colored vestments instead of the usual violet of the Lenten season. This color expresses a quiet joy and hope as the Church reaches the midpoint of Lent and begins to anticipate the coming celebration of Easter. Although Lent remains a time of repentance and reflection, Laetare Sunday offers a moment of encouragement, reminding the faithful that the sorrow of the Passion will ultimately lead to the glory of Christ’s Resurrection.
