Our Spanish appointments are now completely full, but we still have some English appointments available.

If you were unable to schedule an appointment, you will have another opportunity to apply online October 5–11 for children ages 0–12.

We will share more details about the online application process as we get closer to October 5.

We currently have only 25 English appointments and 35 Spanish appointments remaining for Angel Tree.

IMPORTANT: If you have children ages 13–17, you must apply in person.

Please submit your appointment request ASAP to make sure your teens have the opportunity to receive Christmas assistance.

Unable to get an appointment?
You will have another opportunity to apply October 5–11 for children up to age 12.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE. VOLUNTEER WITH US!

The Salvation Army Durham is looking for volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of children, families, and our community!

There are several ways you can get involved:

Tutor or Mentor Kids at the Bull City Youth Center
Help children build confidence, improve their skills, and succeed in school.

Help with Free Food Friday
Help prepare, serve, and distribute food to children and families in our community.

Ring the Bells
Join us during the Christmas season as a Red Kettle bell ringer and help provide hope to local families in need.

Angel Tree
Help make Christmas special for local children and families by assisting with our Angel Tree program.

Whether you have a few hours, a day, or want to volunteer regularly, there is a place for you!

Your time can change a life. Your service can strengthen our community.

Help Us Provide Christmas to Local Children!

We are looking for local businesses, churches, organizations, and community partners willing to host an Angel Tree this Christmas!

Hosting an Angel Tree is a simple but meaningful way to help children and families in our community experience the joy of Christmas. We’ll provide the tree and Angel Tags featuring gifts requested by local children. Your customers, members, employees, or visitors can choose an Angel Tag and purchase the gifts to make a child’s Christmas a little brighter.

Could your location host an Angel Tree?

We’re looking for partners who are willing to:
• Display an Angel Tree in a visible location
• Encourage people to adopt Angel Tags
• Help spread the word about the program
• Collect donated gifts from those who adopt an Angel

Together, we can help make sure every child has something special to open on Christmas morning.

What an incredible weekend of serving, connecting, and showing love to our city!

Our Love Your City campaign brought together volunteers, families, churches, and community partners with one goal: to make a difference right here in Durham.

From serving our neighbors to encouraging families, sharing smiles, and investing in our community, this weekend reminded us that love is more than a feeling—it’s an action.

When we come together, we can make our city stronger, brighter, and more hopeful.

From meeting individuals and sharing information with them, to visiting a nursing home with gifts and magazines, to feeding the unhoused and finishing with worship and fellowship it was all our act of love in Jesus' name!

Congratulations, Joshua!

The Bull City Youth Center is incredibly proud to celebrate Joshua Dorsette , a former BCYC member and staff member, as he begins an exciting new chapter at Dean College in Massachusetts!

Joshua has grown from a young person in our program to a valued member of our staff, and we have had the privilege of watching him grow, lead, and make a difference in the lives of others.

Joshua, we are so proud of you and all that you have accomplished! Your Salvation Army family will always be cheering you on. We can't wait to see where this next chapter takes you!

The Salvation Army Advisory Board plays an important role in helping us serve Durham. Our board members bring their experience, connections, ideas, and passion for our community to help guide our programs and strengthen our mission.

From the Bull City Youth Center and After School Program to food assistance, emergency services, and community outreach, our work is stronger when community leaders are willing to invest their time and expertise.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about Durham and want to make a meaningful difference. We need people with experience in business, finance, education, law, healthcare, fundraising, marketing, community development, and nonprofit leadership—but most importantly, we need people who care about people.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to be part of the solution.
