During National Police Week '26 our Refined Seniors hosted North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Police Chief Robert Gaddy, Jr., () who reminded us that strong communities are built when faith, wisdom, and public safety walk hand in hand.

With personal anecdotes, Chief Gaddy humorously instilled that a safer community, more often than not, starts with common sense and connection with each other. Attendees were blessed by his heartfelt childhood stories, faith-filled wisdom, university insights, and crime prevention tips tailored to seniors and for the general population. *A special "thank you" to Lt. Genavous Minor for sharing his culinary talents!

North East honors National Police Week by strengthening the bonds that keep our community safe. Chief Gaddy’s visit encouraged us to live out Micah 6:8 — justice, mercy, humility — in partnership with those who serve with integrity.

Together, we can be a light in Durham.

What a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend hosted by SIS! Our Sisters in Salvation Life Group hosted two unforgettable events — a joyful luncheon on Saturday and a Spirit filled worship service on Sunday. Both celebrated women who lead with strength, dignity, and wisdom (Proverbs 31:25–27).

Sunday’s keynote guest speaker, Dr. Trish Harelston, delivered a life-changing message: “Do You Know Who You Are?” based on 1 Corinthians 10:5. Thank you to every woman who pours love, guidance, and faith into her family and community. We honor you!

A very special thank you to the extraordinary young musical prodigy, Austyn Leslie, who honored our mothers with a beautiful classical performance (the music audio leading off this reel)!

Lots of smiles, hugs and excited children! A reminder to all that kindness doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful.

Yesterday, May 8, North East had the joy of blessing mothers in neighboring communities with a rose and a card. A simple gesture, but a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved.

We’re grateful for every mother who allowed us to share God’s love with them. May we continue to love our neighbors well.

Thanks to our Greater Wisdom small group bible study for leading this Neighbor -2-Neighbor outreach! To learn more, visit https://www.necdurham.org/outreach26.

North East celebrated its first official NCCU Day as part of 10 AM worship Sunday, April 26, 2026. High praise and great fellowship among NCCU alums, employees, retirees and supporters marked the occasion along with warm greetings and remarks by NCCU Chancellor Dr. Karrie G. Dixon, .

Pastor Dunston's sermonic message, “Is This Real?” reminds us that all things are possible for believers in the household of faith. With humor Pastor demonstrated the unconceivable as he, an NC A & T Aggie, sported a NCCU shirt for the celebration.

Initial Sermon Celebration Recap

“Sometimes when God says ‘No’,” she testified while reflecting on the recent homegoing of her mother, “He is not removing His love. He is redefining where your strength comes from.”

What a Word in due season Min. Niecy Daniel preached as she delivered her initial sermon “When God Says ‘No’” on March 22.
Continue to pray for Min. Daniel as she joins the ministerial staff and continues to lead North East’s Sisters in Salvation (SIS) life group.

Thanks, again, to everyone for your loving acts of support and encouragement as Min. Daniel takes ordered steps on new ministry paths. Special kudos to the North East Culinary Team for an awesome reception that blessed guests and members alike with warm hospitality and great food.
