Just received this from Chris Trueworthy, my friend my brother in Christ and Bethel’s missionary to Mexico:
You know something beautiful?
The Bible says in Isaiah 46:3–4:
«"I have upheld you since your birth... Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he... I have made you and I will carry you."»
It also says in Deuteronomy 1:31:
«"And in the wilderness... the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place."»
These verses reveal the heart of our heavenly Father. God carries His children just as a loving father carries his son.
Why does a father carry his child?
He carries him when he is too sick or too weak to walk. He carries him when the journey becomes too long and the child grows tired. He carries him away from danger to keep him safe.
In the same way, God carries us through seasons when we feel too weak to continue. When life overwhelms us, He gives us the strength we don't have. When we unknowingly find ourselves in danger, He leads us to safety. He never abandons His children.
But there is one more reason a father carries his son.
A father may carry his child one final time after the child's life on earth has ended.
That thought makes me stop and reflect.
For those who belong to Christ, when we take our final breath on this earth, we do not walk into eternity alone. Our loving Father receives us into His presence. He brings us home—the home of homes—where there is no more pain, no more tears, no more death, and where we will be with Him forever.
What a loving Father we have. He carried us from the beginning of our lives, He carries us through every trial, and one day He will welcome us home into His eternal kingdom.
