Interfaith Voices for Reproductive Freedom - NC

Interfaith Voices for Reproductive Freedom - NC A coalition of faith communities working to protect access to reproductive healthcare for all North Carolinians.

Our beliefs direct us to support and trust the personal decisions people make regarding their bodies, families, health, and lives. Interfaith Voices for Reproductive Freedom (formerly known as the Triangle Interfaith Reproductive Justice Coalition) was founded in response to the 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade and North Carolina’s subsequent increased restrictions on abortion access. Our member congr

egations demonstrate that people of faith strongly support access to reproductive healthcare. IVRF organizes rallies, educational events, fundraisers, and get out the vote efforts with the goal of protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for North Carolinians.

Today we celebrate the freedom won by Black communities and recognize the ongoing work that takes place to protect it.

At RCRC, we believe reproductive freedom is inseparable from racial justice. We remain committed to realizing a future where everyone can access the care and resources they need to shape their own life.

Today, and every day, we honor the Black faith leaders, ancestors, activists, and community members who continue the sacred work of building a more just world for all of us.

Happy Juneteenth! ✨

We just added a new and special entry to AbortionsWelcome.Org: a blessing for those who must end a *wanted* pregnancy.

You can find this and other multi-faith and spiritual resources to support mental, emotional, and spiritual health throughout the abortion process. Link in our bio!

(Thank you to the chaplains in Pediatric and Women’s Health at Virginia Commonwealth University Health for generously sharing this blessing with us. 🙏 )

"The group that I am associated with, the Alliance of Baptists, which most of our Binkley members find to be their theological home, strongly affirms abortion access and reproductive freedom as essential human rights." -Rev. Dr. Marcus McFaul, Binkley Baptist Church

As we approach election season, remember that reproductive health care is ALWAYS on the ballot, even if it's not explicit.

Whether through impactful ballot measures, electing a city councilor who can establish a Reproductive Justice Fund, or supporting a state legislator who can advocate for data privacy protections — your vote matters more than you know! Make sure you know the dates of the elections happening in your state.

Understanding the abortion numbers...

In May we saw the highest numbers of abortion seekers with 93 people calling our hotline. 19 were from states outside of our service area (GA, NC, NJ, SC, TN and VA). All received referrals to local funds that can support them. Our clients visited clinics in VA, IL, MD, GA, NC, and OH.

It is important to note that people from the deep south are being forced to leave their homes to access care due to abortion bans. Collectively, in May, they traveled over 59,550 miles to receive care.

In May, we spent a total of $41,650 bringing our annual abortion assistance funding to $121,780.
