This is our last service as 4D Church. We want to thank Pastor Martie and the Mangum family for 18 years of service for the Glory of our God and Lord Jesus Christ. Also thank you to all of you who have supported and sustained this ministry and the Mangum family.

We are confident that God is doing something new, and in that we can rejoice. Our prayer is, from the words of our concluding song today, that our hearts would be so consumed by the glory of God in Christ that we "Never Cease to Praise."

This Sunday, January 21, 2024 will be the last gathering of 4D Church. We will gather to worship the Triune God by singing the Word, reading the Word, preaching the Word, praying the Word, and observing the Communion. Afterwards we will scatter to other churches whereby we will strive to Delight ourselves in God, Display His glory, Declare His gospel, and make Disciples of all nations wherever He sends us.

We are grateful for your love and support though out the years. We invite you to pray for the people of 4D Church as this is transition is emotionally challenging.

Despite these challenges we have great hope in God who has promised to build His Church and anticipate He will do far beyond all we could ask or think in and through us and as well in and through those whom will be planting a new church in this location in the fall of 2024.

To God be the glory!

‭‭"...but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (Jn. 20:31)

‭“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ‭For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." (Jn. 3:16-17)

John's purpose statement in writing his gospel (20:31) flows naturally out of Jesus' own statement of his purpose for coming into the world in John 3.

Jesus was trying to explain to Nicodemus what he should have already understood as "the teacher of israel." The language Jesus uses echoes that of the new covenant in Ezekiel 36 and 37.

Jesus' words here are far less about living forever (or even where we will spend eternity) and more about having eyes to recognize the work of God - His "kingdom" - in the person of Christ. Nicodemus thought he recognized God's presence somehow through Jesus. "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God..." But he couldn't truly "see" that "the kingdom of God" had arrived in the person of Christ, standing in front of him. That kind of sight required new eyes that only the Spirit could provide through a new birth.

John Piper: "[T]he meaning of Christmas is not only that God replaces shadows with Reality, but also that he takes the reality and makes it real to his people. He writes it on our hearts. He does not lay his Christmas gift of salvation and transformation down for you to pick up in your own strength. He picks it up and puts it in your heart and in your mind, and seals to you that you are a child of God."

This is, in essence, what we will consider this Sunday when Jesus says to Nicodemus (and to all who will hear), "You must be born again."
